Man...if the SVX still had its sideskirts, rear bumper, and rear spoiler...well I think I might be one of the happiest men alive right now.

i keep thinking the SVX still looks really cool. (minus the hella dated front end) but add a huge FMIC, and some cool looking head lights and it would be a winner. but its an automatic. and no DCCD. and no turbo . (at least the last one is fixable) then you have a 3.0 or a 3.2 liter 6-cyl with a turbo .. no stick, no DCCD. not for me .
i swear my DCCD actually reads 'this is a toy, enjoy'

Yeah. The SVX is hot. I still stare at 'em. If I had the spare cash and could find one for cheep (like the budgie), I'd get one. But even the ones that aren't in nice shape sell for too much, IMHO. Kinda like finding a GC. =P

I still like SilverSpear's front end (from the forum), even though everyone I know hates it. =/

Actually a 5MT swap costs about the same as a new remanufactured 4EAT (and they all fail at some point on that car), so the manual tranny isn't all that hard to do as long as you know someone with fabrication skills. The EG33 motor is 3.3L flat-6 and puts out 230hp stock, and has fully forged internals, making it damn near bullet-proof (which is why it's used by a lot of sand-rail and aircraft builders). Simply adding N2O will put the car, at stock weight, into the 12's. The factory headlights are already projectors nicer than any other non-HID US lights, you just have to get the clear lenses for 'em:

So, the really the turbo is probably the hardest item on your list, and that's mostly because there's no good user-tunable solution for engine management without going to a stand-alone ECU, a MAF out of a twin-turbo Z, and some large injectors, which causes the driveability to suffer.

You're kidding right? A nice SVX should be around $5k... that's like $8k cheaper than a GC/GM! The problem is more finding a nice one rather than affording one. I got mine for significantly less than $5,000, but I've put about a total of $7k into my car including the car itself, the new axles, brakes, radiator, stereo, alarm, wheels, lights, grill, and the paint job. But I'll be damned if it's not a sweet daily driver.

I wish I was!

I don't seem to be having any luck, is all. Maybe my standards are set too high? Anyhow, I haven't seen a $5k or under SVX recently (and I would now, but admin's blocked that stuff).. then again, I probably don't look as much anymore.

Personally, I think I'd have to have found my second GC and bought it before spending 5k or so on an SVX.

'Tis a fine looking car, though. I wouldn't have any issues with dumping money into one if I had the chance.

I still want to turn mine into a monster of sorts. But I really don't want to lose too much in driveability. My eventual goal will be to have a nice daily driver that will run fast in the quarter and even faster around the track.

Right now I really don't know where to go transmission wise...I need to find something able to handle the horsepower I will be putting down. I can't decide if I want to go the manual or 4eat route with some 4.44 or 4.11 gears and a lsd rear.

Andrewtech Automotive offers PPG gearsets in both straight cut and helical cut which you can mix and match. PPG gears are indestructable. A popular route is 1-2 straigtcut and 3-4 helical while maintaing the stock 5th. He also sells RA gearsets if you're on a budget and won't be going crazy with the power mods. Most people choose upgraded synchro's for daily drivers but dog egagement is also available.

Of course I don't know jack about GC's so this could be totally useless info, but I'd give him a call if I were you.

Duckie has an SVX there bud. Unless he does a WRX/STi manual swap, he's SOL on strong transmissions.

'04/'05 is easy. The STi is now what the RS once was, and the RS is now the equivalent of the L.
