Ive got the Redline 75W-90NS in the gearbox and Redline 75W-90 gear oil in the diff. Only problem is very rarely I get locked out of 4th. Usually happens after driving on the freeway for a long time and shifting out of 5th. Only has happened twice and it was pretty cold out...

Oh ok, I'm not doing any damage as long as I don't force it into gear? I don't have any grinding so I'll probably leave it. Thanks

I'm going to be doing some maintenance soon, I was thinking about changing my gear oil. The Redline 75W90NS is okay, but everybody says such great things about Lightweight Shockproof? It's okay to run the Shockproof straight, right? I was going to try Motul 300 but its way to expensive...

For the trans, LW shock proof alone is what many of us have and are using. 5MT or 6MT.

It is not appropriate for the rear diff.

That's what I've had in there for a year or so. I def. want to try the Motul 300 or Amsoil Severe Gear next change.

I've had LW Shockproof in my green wagon for years now, it's OK. Then I dropped it in the 1.8 5MT that I got from Kevin that's in the SS - transformed it completely. It went from being a grindy sucker to instant awesome, I can hit 2nd as fast as I want now.....I don't hammer it, but I'm sure when Kevin was autocrossing it it saw some interesting times.....;-)

Cool, thanks guys. I know about the rear diff, I run Redline Gear Oil in the diff...not the NS just plain old gear oil

Actually I only grind other people's gears. I think I try to be more careful and go too slow or something, and the synchros get out of whack.
