Did Nate end up tuning the car with and without the intake to see what effect it has?

Hey I have an idea... let's put your suspension, brakes, and wheels on my car, throw in the 3/4 of a drivetrain I've got ready, and beat the crap out of everyone in a two driver car.
How about we put that tranny in my car, and I'll pay you $5000.
SO how's the wiring going?

No, there aparently wasn't time. But Nick's car is extremely similar (even baselines), and Matt has about a 10hp over Nick.

Yeah, we didn't have the time to do it that way, however, Nick S's STi had a very similar looking dyno curve to mine, similar baseline etc...all before the headers went on, they also have identical exhaust systems, so for now, we can safely say that the Injen Cold Air Intake added exactly 10 WHP and 10 Ft/lbs of torque at the wheels...Subaru Specialists will get another number for comparison when the intake goes on ScottB's Sti...Nate was very confident that the Intake has a very positive impact on the tuning.

I'll bet the gains are slightly higher. Our exhausts are close, but mine is the race version with no resonator or flex pipe, just a straight 3" pipe.

That is true, you are probably right, could be more like 13 to 15...we will see. It will probably take averaging 3 of them to see what the gain looks like.

Name: Nick (doubleurx)
Car: 2005 STI
Mods: Invidia Turboback, GT spec II headers, Injen Intake, Ecutek reflash by Subaru Specialists.
Wheel HP: 269.6 @ 5000 RPM
Wheel TQ: 310.0 @ 3750
Dyno: Mustang @ Subaru Specialists 1/28/05 2:13 p.m.

Clearly the headers only add minimal whp, but the torque they add is impressive. First car to break 300 on Nate's dyno........nananananana!

310.0 @ 3750

Are you sure that wasn't the Decibel meter you were reading?

Looks like the SECCS STi Arms Race is going to have to go into big budget spending here on out!

Damn, that's nice... now if it was only 300WHP as well, that would be an accomplishment...

Edited the 1st post... The progression of some of the cars in the list is very interesting to see...

Nick, do you have a dyno sheet showing before and after? I am interested in seeing how much higher/lower the boost threshold is with the headers. Can you bring any sheets to the next meet?

p.s. awesome numbers!

I commend you sir, for comprehending the difference between boost threshold and lag. Kudos!

I only have the final dyno sheet. I'll ask Nate to plot an overlay and scan it. The torque curve is nuts. However, my injectors and pump are pretty much maxed at this point.

looks like I need to get some headers, CIA, injectors, pump, and Ecutech to get back in the lead

Just picked up the car yesterday with the new numbers:

Name: Nick (doubleurx)
Car: 2005 STI
Mods: Greddy EVO 2 cat back, Invidia downpipe, GT spec II headers, SBR GT-12 Turbo, Perrin Modded injectors, Walbro fuel pump, Perrin FMIC, Perrin Short Ram intake, ECUTEK tuned by Subaru Specialists
Wheel HP: 337.8 @ 5750 RPM
Wheel Tq: 331.4 @ 5000 RPM
Dyno: Mustang @ Subaru Specialists 4/23/05 10:00 a.m.

It's a late torque curve, but carries over 300 #' 4700 rpm all the way to redline.

Yes it did. Runs like a champ. Acceleration through sixth is amazing. The sound of the turbo is sooo loud with the change from the Injen intake to the Perrin one.

Now I just need the new stickers!
