Big sarcastic thanks to all you whipper-snappers that are putting your WRX's into telephone poles.

Keep the shiny side up guys.

So it's a bad thing that we own two cars in the '10 worst cars' list. (I know it says 350, but close enough)

To expand Scott's comment a bit, chances are that more SRT-4 owners are, on average, actually the individuals financing the cars, since they are more affordable. That affects ownership psychology a bit.

"The Journal obtained quotes ... that the WRX could cost nearly $600 more per year to insure than a comparable Ford Taurus."

Okay, so aside from number of doors, tires and steering wheels, how are those cars comparable?

Well, at the time, they were actually driving a Toyota pickup that wasn't theirs while waiting for the Dodge (I think) truck they traded the Jeep that wasn't strong enough to pull a horse trailer for was not having dents removed.

Go figure that out.

2. Scion tC

3. Hyundai Tiburon

6. Honda Civic Si
These cars all fit, the profile, you're describing, on average. The person who is buying a tiburon or scion is most likely financing the car themselves too. The tiburon and civic person is thinking they have a sporty car, trying to pick up chicks. The SRT4 owner is most likely aware that their car is faster and wanting to show off, with limited driving ability, wrapping it around a light post or tree,on average.

I still think these fit the profile of the "daddy just sent me to college to party with a new car" profile. Along with the WRX. Daddy should also pay for professional driving instruction.

The SRT-4 isn't on the list because there aren't nearly as many of them on the road as there are WRXs, so even if they're crashed just as frequently, the insurance companies aren't going to see the same statistical risk that would cause the higher rates.

Plus, WRX drivers are in general bigger douchebags than SRT-4 drivers these days anyway. Now that there are thousands of cheap WRXs on the used car market, they're bought up by every GT4 playing high school flatbrimmer brodawg that wants an accessory to go with his DC shoes and Monster energy drink who takes his sweet rally car out to the street races and leaves it upside down or taco'd into a light pole.

The worst part about it is all of us WRX owners pay for their stupidity through increased insurance rates. That was part of the reason in doing the sti swap into the wrx, was to save on insurance. My last sti I owned, the insurance was through the roof. And I have a clean driving record.

Hey! You don't have to be young to crash your WRX. I've only crashed it a few times though. Sheesh, get off my back. The beautfiul part is that all of those crashes and all of my speeding tickets have fallen off my record so I'm paying the same as all of you non-crashers now.

What you mean to say is that now we're all paying the same amount for your crashes.

Not at all. But it's nice that you consider others before making insurance claims.

If you crashed your WRX and made an insurance claim, you added to the reason why all of us are paying higher premiums, even if the accident is no longer on your individual record.

I'm not suggesting that folks "consider others" when filing their claims. I'm suggesting that parents don't buy their 16 year old dipshit little kids 300hp rally cars that they have no clue how to drive just because their kids want one so bad and they're only $8k.

If all the people that crashed their WRX's were like you Cody, our premiums wouldn't be so high. Shit happens. The problem is that shit happens way more often to these brotard douchebags that have latched onto the used WRX market in the last 2 or 3 years.

Yah, I could make an MSPaint graph of how my frequency of accidents and tickets has petered off as I've gotten older.
