Antenna Delete Plate - Product Release
We introduce our newest product for Subaru Impreza models from 1996-2008; an Antenna Delete Plate. The purpose of this product is to replace the OEM whip-style antenna that many drivers dislike and therefore do not fully extend. Due to this, it is difficult to obtain quality radio coverage. The Antenna Delete Plate is made from black powder-coated aluminum that is fade-resistant to the sun. Installation is easy and the end result appearance is that of an OEM part. GrimmSpeed also offers a replacement antenna that is installed on the car front windshield and replaces the OEM antenna you have deleted. This optional antenna has a sleek finish and is well-hidden by the rearview mirror.
As with all GrimmSpeed products, one-of-a-kind craftsmanship is behind every part and the best customer service available is provided. Death to the whip-style antenna!! Does the replacement antennae work okay with the optional compass mirror?

There are no visible wires after installation of the antenna. We have done a bunch of testing locally and we have come to the conclusion that this antenna works as well as the oem whip antenna when it is fully extended. |

Hey Justin... what if you don't want the window antenna?
Also... can you remove the OEM antenna w/o having to take out the A-pillar trim? My roll cage is kinda in the way of ever removing the trim, unless I never plan on putting it back.

Will a windshield tint strip affect the reception of that antenna?

Does it work at night? Do you need a clear view of the southern sky?

FWIW, I know that metallic tint is known to screw with the window antenna on the late model Subaru's, but regular tint is fine.

When you say "regular tint", are you talking about the kind that turns purple after a year?

No, I mean non-reflective tint. I think it's just the weird reflective (metallic) colors some people go with for tint that screws with it. I'm just going from what I "heard" from the internet some years ago though.

Not even the "metallic" mirror stuff makes a real difference. Usually it's just the factory stuff sandwiched in the glass (like on the SVX) that blocks radio. That window antenna will probably work behind just about any aftermarket tint... i.e. if your radar detector works, so will the radio.
