Finally swapped my fuel filter.

Since I had nothing better to do besides sit around at my parent's house today, I went to Subaru, snagged a fuel filter, and went to work.

10 minutes and a gasoline soaked shirt later, I was done!

Turns out there's a check valve of some sort in the filter. I pulled the fuel tank side hose off, and was *very* careful about it, because I wasn't sure if the line was still under pressure or not. Got the hose off without spilling a drop. So now I'm *sure* there's no pressure in the system... WRONG. I yanked the motor side hose off, and was greated with a nice fuel soaking, all over my right arm and neck. Oops. I had a bunch of rags around to clean things up, athen immediately washed myself an my clothes, so no big deal, but I sure pissed off the 'rents by stinking up the house with the smell of 91 octane (insert NASCAR commerical reference here).

So, all in all, the fuel filter's an easy job (it's actually easier than the oil filter!). And much less messy if you pull the fuel pump fuse and run the car till it starves.

how many miles do you have I changed mine at 30.000 miles. The install is easy if you let your car sit over night then do it first thing. The lines will be empty so its much safer.

I waited a little longer than I should have and did it with about 36k miles. I should have waited, but I was at my parents house and taking my dad's spot in the garage, and if I had left it there overnight he would have been pissed his prescious Volvo had to sit outside for a night.
