Negative ghostrider, pattern is full. If you really really really wanna blow your motor up, err, I mean add a lot of power, we'll help you with that. But you are in dire need of tires, brakes, and suspension first, not to mention the 5 speed swap. With your current budget though, I would highly recommend against forced induction. Even if you manage not to break anythin on low boost, fuel consumption goes through the roof.

That kit would require an additional $3000 to make it work. Oh, and you'd need a different MAF, different turbo, different I/C, and different piping, because that's a crappy kit for a Honda. Not to mention, a fuel pump, injectors, engine management and tuning.

Actually, I do tend to spout off a lot. The "Subaru Lore" is pretty well ingrained in most of us... to the point where we tend only to stick to what's tried and true.

Of course nothing would work if people didn't go out on a limb and try stuff... look at Sean's turbo kit... it's totally home-grown, and I think it kicks ass! He didn't listen to everyone else, and ended up with a good product.

However, it usually costs more money to "experiement" than it does to go with a known solution. Sean has a bunch of mechanical knowledge, access to a shop, and capable friends to help him out... you're still just getting your feet wet in the "scene"... you should just spend a ton of time reading the boards, and asking questions. Once you've been around the cars a while, you'll know what's what, and what works. Then you can try converting Honda turbo kits to use on a Subaru.

This is almost always true, unless you are a competent fabricator and already have a shite-load of tools & equipment at your disposal. Just like when most people who think they are going to save money building their own race car end up spending far more than if they just bought a complete racecar someone else already built.
