Default TurboXS UTEC

Does anybody have any experience or opinion of the TurboXS UTEC? It looks like you need to buy the TXSTunerpro with it as well. Where is the best place to purchase this product from? Any feedback would be great.

Cobb's AP2.0 is far, far superior to the Utec.

I have been running a UTEC on my STI for 2 years. I wanted to do my own tuning, so at the time that was my best choice. I also used an AccessPort on my '03 WRX, but I didn't do any tuning on it, because I couldn't at that time.

If you want to plug in off-the-shelf maps, like Stage 1, Stage 2, etc. then the AccessPort is def. the way to go. The UTEC maps are very conservative (rich and low timing) and are meant to be custom tuned, whereas the AP maps are closer to optimum right out of the box.

If you're going to get tuned, then I disagree that the A 2.0 is "far far superior". The UTEC has it's advantages including speed density tuning, launch control, flat-foot shifting, water injection mapping, superior knock detection algorithm, integration with the Tuner (you don't need the Pro one), easy-peasy map selection. Also the new UTEC firmware has eliminated most if not all of the piggyback hesitation problems. Basically your choice would come down to your tuner's preference, which around here would be the AP 2.0.

If you are going to do the tuning yourself, then the UTEC is the way to go. I use UTI freeware that autotunes fuel, and it's sweet.

My two cents anyway...
