Default What spark plugs are everyone using?

More specifically STI drivers. It seems that my plugs are fouled after less than 10k of driving. I think my idle is rich so that is a problem. Anyway i ordered a set of Denso Iridium plugs (IKH22). Im just wondering what everyone else is using. thanks for the input.

As far as I know, there is one and only one choice for colder STi plugs: NGK LFR-7AIX. And when I say "one and only one" I don't mean that 'cause they're great plugs, I say that because they're the *only* one step colder plugs for the STi, period.

Personally, I'd rather run a set of $4 copper plugs and change 'em frequently, but they just don't make 'em for the STi heads.

I have to check, but I believe that is what I'm running.

I think there are other options out there, but nobody who tunes these cars will touch anything else.

And I am very happy not having to go to the trouble of checking/changing them often.

I'm also using the one step colder NGKs.

I believe you, just surprised between all your stages, nobody ever suggested or swapped plugs on you. Especially whoever did your green upgrade.

Everytime I make a change to the car I ask Mike if I am missing anything and he has never mentioned plugs once.

Colder plugs don't make a difference in power or anything. If it's not pinging, it's not pinging... no need to pull heat out of the chamber if you aren't having an issue.

Plus colder plugs foul easier, so on a street car they are not really a help.

Colder plugs can allow your tuner to milk a couple more ponies out of the tune though. They do foul if you drive like a Granny all the time though. A good full throttle pull every once in a while cleans 'em off though.

They're generally recommended for anything stage2 or higher, assuming a custom tune.

Don't forget getting smacked down all season long in autocross by an old man in a turbocharged walker. You can blame that on your plugs too.

I'm glad I don't have colder plugs, or I would have beaten you by 0.002 instead of 0.001 at event 5. I hate putting unnecessary wear and tear on the car!

It's better than being on colder plugs that are sitting in a bucket 'cause the motor's in pieces.

It all depends on who's 1st and 2nd... if it's two national champs like in Matt's case, you're right. But when it's just Dean and Mike... pshht... you should be ashamed!

Plus, anytime you're within a second of cars with 100+ hp on you, *they* should be embarrassed.
