Default GrimmSpeed 2015 WRX/STI License Plate Relocation Kit - PRODUCT RELEASE

Infinitely Adjustable!

Check out our website for more information, photos and to order!

Available immediately is the famous GrimmSpeed License Plate Relocation Kit with infinite adjustability for the 2015 Subaru WRX and STI! With a ton of feedback from product testers, we were able to create a kit that fits perfectly and offers adjustability based on your preference. Some people like the plate to face straight ahead while others prefer that it sit closer to their bumper. With our kit, there is a wide range of possible installations so that you can experiment before selecting your favorite configuration!
  • Proudly made in the USA - Design, Materials and Fabrication
  • Most adjustability of any kit available!
  • Stainless Steel Hardware - Maximum durability and corrosion resistance
  • Mounts to OEM tow hook location for clean, easy installation
  • Ultra heavy-duty, black zinc coated, 12L14 steel shaft will not bind of break like lesser aluminum kits
Need to keep the dealership from drilling the dreaded holes in your bumper? Hate the look of the license plate front and center on your car? Maybe you just want to get it out of the way of your radiator? GrimmSpeed has the solution. With a unique u-bracket mounting method and a fully slotted plate frame, you have, quite literally, infinite adjustability with this kit. Angle the plate however you choose and then select where you'd like it to sit. Higher, lower, further to the side or closer to the center. It's all possible with this kit.

Design
We've been producing these very popular license plate relocation kits for years and have perfected our design methodology when a new vehicle arrives. We work with product testers, sponsored drivers and owners (of 2015 models, in this case) to determine the wide range of desired mounting locations. With that data in hand, we design a mounting bolt that meets those needs and offers the widest range of adjustability. We nailed it on this one.

Materials
These kits are serious business and they look the part. We won't go as far as to call them bombproof, since we're thinking that they probably aren't, but they're beefy. Each bolt is machined from durable 12L14 steel and then black zinc coated for corrosion protection. U-brackets are laser cut and CNC bent before the threaded inserts are installed. Plate holders are also laser cut and CNC bent before receiving the same durable black textured powdercoat as the u-bracket. All hardware is stainless steel to withstand the elements.

Fitment:
2015 Subaru WRX
2015 Subaru STI

Pricing
$84.99 MSRP

Since it's "Infinitely Adjustable!!1!", I guess it would be perfect for mounting the license plate on the left-hand side, right? Better yet, mount it dead center in the middle to give it that symmetric look with negligible effect on radiator airflow.

The term infinitely adjustable implies that there are an infinite number of configurations that you could select when using the product. With the ability to vary the left/right and rotational angle, that is absolutely true. 'Infinitely adjustable" doesn't mean or imply that you can mount it anywhere. For example, there are an infinite number of ways that you could park your car in your driveway (infinitely small variations in position), but that doesn't mean that you can park your car on the moon. Make sense?

Yep. Sounds like it's not your cup of tea - so save the $85!

IIRC, my manual states you shouldn't drive around with the tow hook in since it can affect the ABS system in the event of a collision. How is it okay to drive around with these in then?

I assume the abs system expects the bumper to crumple so the airbags don't go off in a mild fender bender. Since the tow hook solidly attaches to the bumper it effectively bypasses the crumple zone of the bumper and that might trigger an airbag deploy at much lower impacts than necessary. I expect the license plate frame thingy is way more crumpleable than a solid tow hook, unless the GS plate frame is strong enough to tow the car with.

Either way, it doesn't sound like the tow hook or the plate frame would make the car less safe in a big crash when you really need the airbags working properly. Not that having a bag go off in your face unnecessarily isn't without its own risks.

Makes sense. And really, you should get punched in the face [by your airbag] if you spend $85 to move your plate to the side.
