Car: 2007 Sleeper......thats not really a sleeper.......
Default Random 07 sti info

I have been doing a lot of customization to my car personally and my car is in the middle of an engine rebuild and lots of parts being upgraded. I just wanted to let everybody know that I will be posting pictures of the custom stuff that I have done and detailed instructions for any that want it! Stand by for a bit......Just thought the info will help others avoid the mistakes I made and make things easier for anyone trying to do similar stuff that I did. Just lookin out for people

It'll be a couple of weeks or a little less but I did aftermarket headlights, led bulbs for front and back lights, grillcraft grill, front lip spoiler, swapped a hood scoop for the 04 bigger style, and had complete engine rebuild done so hopefully some of the information will have some use for you...........

Well it does have an aftermarket top mount which requires a hood scoop last time I checked unless you want major cooling issues haha. My car has no stickers and no spoiler. The bigger scoop potentially allows more air since the surface area of my bigger intercooler is larger than the stock 07 by quite a bit. Also imo the 07 with the sharper front end designs on the grill are lacking something in the stock smaller scoop and I happen to like the larger one it looks more agressive. I have pictures coming soon. Its not like the bigger scoop is like going from a stock wrx spoiler to an sti one haha it is hardly even noticeable. So im not sure what you are confused about there Don? In your opinion if I want a sleeper should I have no hood scoop to achieve that look and chance overheating my upgraded setup lol?

That's because it was haha i didn't have it latched all of the way because there isn't an engine in it and i didn't have the battery situated properly so the hood wouldn't close.......

Here's 2001-2007...

I haven't had the enthusiasm to bother with 2007-2013, but it's something like this now:

This is what I'm doing instead these days:

Does "7 new engines" count as "any engine stuff"? At least I think it's 7... might be 6 or 8, I can't remember now without checking a calendar and SCCA time trials standings from 2004 to now to see which events I'm not in.

The car currently has a GT52 on a mildly built EJ257, Perrin FMIC, TurboXS DP, and Prodrive cat-back. 6MT swap, hub swap, Stoptech front/2-pot rear brakes, Tein SuperRace suspension, and probably 100 other things I'm not remembering since I've owned the car since 2001. It's gone through a lot of revisions. I'm probably just going to part it out because I'm tired of tuning it and breaking it at the track. But I've had it so long, it's like cutting off a limb to sell it.

The Outback is stage 2 on BC coilovers, swaybars, and Stoptech front brakes. It's actually not terrible at the track... keeps up with the Miatas, as long as I'm willing to punish the snot out of the tires.

The Miata has FCM coilovers, a giant swaybar, and tires on it. Oh, and a freshly rebuilt engine thanks to Cory and Bob at KSpeed. It's more fun than the other two cars combined. But it's god-awful slow... hence the license plate:

I'm 6'4", I can't get in or out of either of the cars easily unless I have a quick-release on the steering wheels.

The Miata needed an aluminum shell bolted to the floor pan just for me to fit. The WRX has a cage and some RaceTech seats with huge bolsters, so it's actually more cramped than the Miata.

Ok I see what you guys mean by a sleeper haha but in my context I mean sleeper as in it's hard to tell if it is an Sti or a Wrx..........but I guess when you are doing an engine rebuild it doesn't matter anyway. Yes a pos looking civic with 540 whp is probably the definition of a sleeper.........mine is a little off from that haha but thanks for the like on the front end customize!

I'm not questioning your functional choices, I was just saying that a mailbox-sized scoop isn't exactly low-profile.

And before you think I'm throwing stones, I have the same mailbox-sized scoop stock on my car.

I just don't consider it "sleeper".

Did you also retrofit the larger splitter from the 04-05 STi scoop? If not, you're directing air to the wrong places under the hood.

I actually considered going to a lower-profile scoop to remove some of the obnoxiousness from the front end, but didn't want to hassle with getting a shorter splitter, having fitment issues, etc, just to cut my airflow.

I just thought the big scoop, LED's and aftermarket lighting were counterproductive to a "sleeper" concept. Carry on

Haha........your car looks nice man I like the work you've done just from the pic. White is my favorite color on the Sti's. I had an 04 Sti that was white as well. Yeah no I haven't looked into a splitter yet but that is definitely on my list for sure. I think your car looks better with the "mailbox" scoop for what its worth. But yeah my car won't be something that doesn't turn heads when it's done but the effect I am going for is the look on high end expensive fast car drivers faces when I keep up or beat them and they are confused as to what kind of car it really is ; ) My top mount is a the biggest Spearco version and I need my new engine build dropped in (1 1/2 weeks from now) before I can really see what needs to be done as far as the splitter goes.

ProTip: If you want to avoid being flamed, make sure you're definition of "beat them" involves an autocross course or race track.
