Default Rolling Fenders

I was going to see if anyone was interested in doing this? I'm ordering some 245 RT-615s and I think there is going to be a good chance they could rub. There is a guy on Nasioc/Clubwrx.net that runs this site www.rolllyourfender.com and I've only heard good things about it. If anyone else is interested we could rent the tool and do everyones in a day.

We did have a fender rolling day a while ago. I'm not sure how many people still need to do it? We rented the tool from the S-Squared shop.

Those are some sweet tires! Nice job.

You getting some TE37's to with them?

PM sybir, he might be able to get you a god deal on renting the tool, and with all the people that god between Reno and Sac, we can probably get it to you at one of the meets or something.

I can't really send the tool up, I have to come with it

That said, if can get a couple of people together, I'll check w/ Nate on renting the tool and bringing it up, as I haven't hit Reno in a while....maybe in early August, as July is dwindling quickly.

I think I will just put them on and see if they rub and go from there. Sadly no TE37's for me. I just forked out 1500 for my insurance and the RE92s are going to be almost corded after this autocross. I am going to go with some 17x8 Rota Torques for awhile.

I still have the Nippon Racing "Lightstars" sitting in the garage if you need a set of inexpensive lightweight wheels...

You can always go to Walbogs, pick up a louisville slugger, and do it the old fashioned way.

I thought about it...I also asked the body shop that will soon be working on my car if they could do it and somehow keep the paint from cracking. He says they could spray some clearcoat on it, but it doesn't really help. I'll just hope you get the roller for Saturday. Otherwise I'll just have to take corners kinda slow.

BTW, I don't have a heatgun, but is there any point to using one to try to prevent the paint from cracking as much as possible?

The roller will crack the paint too. Unless you've got the time to get a heat gun and go *very* slowly, you will crack the paint on the inside of the fender for sure, and possibly the outside lip as well.

I spent like an hour per fender w/ a heat gun on my car and still had to touch up the inside of the lip to prevent rust. But at least I didn't crack any visible paint.

Let me use my superpowers to contact Nick and Aaron via ESP mind-meld while they're in a plane over the Pacific and I'll let you know.

Like I said, I PM'd Aaron... I'll know more when he's back and checks the board.

Okay fine. Thanks.

BTW, to further the cause, it's all Dean's fault. He said these tires would fit.

Okay, I talked to Aaron, the tool will be making its way to Reno when Nick comes back from Sacramento. We should be able to have a little fender rolling party at my place Friday evening. I'll have my heat gun to help prevent paint cracking.

The price for tool rental will be $30 per person. Aaron's been gracious enough to donate $10 out of that $30 to the club! I figure we can do like 3 or 4 cars, if there are that many people interested, so post up your name if you want in, and help support the club.

One thing I need to make extremely clear:

Fender rolling, even by an experienced person w/ the right tools *will* damage the paint on your car. You *will* crack/damage the paint on the inside lip of the fender guarenteed. There is also a high likelyhood that the paint on the outside of the fender may be damaged as well. We will have a heat gun that can help prevent the damage, but that also has it's own associated risks. Aaron is loaning out this tool w/ zero liability/responsibility for the damage that will occure. Everyone will be responsible for their own cars, and needs to understand the risk they're taking.

I will be using the tool to touch up my fenders for a little more room in the rear, and I've used this tool before, so you guys can get a look at the damage it does and how it works before making the final commitment to roll your fenders.

Cool, count me in. Only one side seems to rub (the passenger side), but I'll just want a touch of rolling on both rear fenders.

The roller made its way back to Sacramento a least a month ago.

For autocross you mean? Because it's legal in SP and SM classes.
