Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once
Default Short throw shifter

I just got my short throw shifter installed this morning. I am a little dissapointed, I thought it was going to be a much shorter throw. But it only seemed that I got a slight change in the actaul throw.

Anyone else have the same impressions?

Which one is it? Did you already have the STi short throw from the dealer?

The biggest improvement comes from the bushings... did you get those installed too?

Also, I was a bit disapointed w/ my Cobb shifter when I installed it, as it doesn't seem to make a big difference... but it's actually quite better once you get out and really drive the car, i.e. your shifts can be *much* faster, even if the throw doesn't seem that short.

As far as I can tell, they did change the bushings. The old ones are in the box. The car came with a standard shifter, so I had the dealership order a short or quick throw shifter to replace the standard one. I asked for the old parts for giggle sake.

I did start to notice some improved shifting after driving it to Yerington yesterday. Wilson Canyon is a blast.

Thanks for the clarification, perhaps I just expected too much. Like a click for first and a click for second. Oh well.

Thanks

I know the one your talking about. I've driven that canyon many times in a 69 Ford f-250 loaded down with a cord of firewood. 5300 lbs of truck with 1000 lbs of wood doesn't make for the sweetest handling vehicle around.

I think I averaged about 70 through the canyon. YEHAAA

Nah -- the canyon from Walker to Sonora Junction on 395S. It's really cool in dry weather after all the rockfall has stopped...think Wilson canyon, only about 3x as long, with a couple 4-lane sections.

Scott, Matt, didn't you guys do a group drive over Sonora Pass once? I'll bet that was interesting.

No, I've been up there before, but not really a group drive or anything..

I think Franz has made a run through there though..
