The way out is through
Default FS: SVX wheels and snow tires, and Falken Ziex 912's w/ tons of tread

Edit: threads merged!

Selling my SVX wheels with snow tires on 'em cheap, as well as a set of unmounted Falken 912 all-season tires:

Quote:
Now that there are StopTechs on the SVX, the stock wheels are useless to me.

The wheels are 16x7.5+55 (or there about, I'm not 100% sure on the width and offset) 5x114.3 stock SVX wheels. They're the epitome of late 80's early 90's pinwheel styling! Keep in mind, these are the '05+ STi bolt pattern but do not clear Brembo brakes. So really, they're useful for STi's with gravel brakes, SVXi, and probably some Mazdas.

The tires are 225/55/17 Dunlop Wintersport M3s. The tread is down to the winter wear bars, but there's still some decent tread left before they're down to the summer wear bars. They'd be some great tires for hitting the trails with on an RS or something, or even just as decent all seasons for that matter. The M3's are actually pretty good tires in the dry for snow tires.

$50 OBO gets you the tires. If you want the wheels, I'll include them with the tires for free!

I've got pictures at home, I'll post 'em up later.
Quote:
For Sale: Set of four Falken Ziex 912's, nearly new, 225/45/17.

Bought them for the Saab at the start of the summer. Tried to save them to put on whatever new car we got since they've got so much life left, but ended up getting an Outback that needs 55 series tires.

$250.
Edit: Falkens are sold.

Wow, for someone with an SVX who wants a second set, that's a steal!

Hmm, those have almost the same outside diameter as Amanda's stock size. I think her rims are too narrow (17X7?) though...and I think she wants a more aggressive Winter tire...but we may be interested. Her stock tires are 205/50/17's.

Um, 17x7 is pretty much the ideal size for a 225/45/17. That's the size of the Saab wheels it came off of... though I think the factory tire for the Saab was a 215... the 225 fit fine. People run 225's on the OEM 16x6.5 WRX wheels all the time too, don't they?

BTW: 205/50/17 = 803.3 rev per mile, 225/45/17 = 808.4 revs per mile:

"When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 59.6mph (96km/h): 0.7% slower."

It doesn't get much closer than that.

I did that and liked it fine. But I don't know, they could be 17X6 for all I know and I'm trying to get her something that won't squirm at all since she feels like the 3 is a little unstable already.

I believe the Mazda 3 wheels are 17x6.5, I'm pretty sure that's the size on my wife's car.

They are indeed 17x6.5, but 225/45 fits fine on them, even with aggressive tires. Both sets of autocross tires on the Mazda were 225/45s, and her winters are actually 235/45s on 17x8s, so don't worry about fitment.

Edit: and like I posted in the other thread, squishier tires will actually help the twitchy feel of the car, not make it worse. If you're comfortable with the snow/ice performance of these, they're an excellent option for Amanda's car.

I almost want to pick these up so I can put 17s on Jenn's '10 2.5. (but ain't gonna happen til the stockers are dead)

225/45 on my 17x7.5s look oh-so-slightly stretched (as all stock-sized Subaru tires seem to - to me). 225/45 on 6.5s would probably be perfect (just a little bubble for softer sidewall).

Bump. I've like to get some space in the garage before it starts snowing.

SVX wheels are dirt cheap at $50... hell, the snow tires on 'em are worth that much!

Nearly new Ziex 912's at $250 are great for your daily driver!

Scott, I'll take the SVX wheels - I just want the tires to throw on the RS wheels I picked up for the wagon, so if anyone has a use for the wheels, hey.

Sweet! You going to be up in Reno anytime soon? I wasn't planning to be down in Sac in the near future, but I might be able to set up a trip if you can't make it up here.

I'll figure something out - I'm pretty close to being done with this snow season anyways, so it's not a huge rush. I'll let you know when I have the wagon back and can head up.

Oh, it's fine. Josh's truck, however, is a 40 year old Datsun with bad kingpins, so he's driving the Fozzie while Deede is rocking the hoopty, lol.
