Yep, I'm in this coming weekend pending arrival of tires and my roll bar, hopefully shocks too. Probably will make the October weekend as well, but not the Labor Dayone.

I'm thinking about signing up for Sept 4th, but I have a few questions:
First, I'm not an SCCA member - how much will a day end up costing me? Second, should I put SECCS as my "sponsor," just for representation, or does it not matter? Third, since I'm new, is there any particular work assignment that is recommended? And lastly, how long does it usually take one to get there from Reno? I wouldn't want to be late. . . I'm sure I'll have more questions as the date draws closer.

Honestly, I would recommend you skip the "Club Trials" events until you put in some time in Solo 2 events. The club trials are structured for more experienced racers, including working a corner alone, and running a very high speed track. I'm not saying you wouldn't be able to run, but the Club Trials demand a very high level of car control and the way it's set up doesn' allow for a lot of guidance for a new person. I hope a few of the others would chime in, with their thoughts, but I'd say feel it out with Solo2 events first. Lovelock is an hour away, east on I80.

RenoSCCA has an *excellent* new Novice program for Solo2 autocross spearheaded by SECCS's own Dean Benz. I would suggest hitting up a few Solo2 events as a Novice before trying Trials. Hell, I've been autocrossing for about 5 years and Trials still gives me butterflys in my stomach... it's scarier than track days IMO. However, if you're interested in coming out to Lovelock just to check out the event, by all means do so! The non-racing side of things are very laid back and fun. You'll be able to ride-along with someone on the warmup laps (IIRC), and you might be allowed to work a corner w/ an experienced worker if you're looking for some experience. Also, keep in mind that Oct. 3rd is a Solo2 at Lovelock, so you could run that, then hang out the next day to to see what Club Trials are all about.

Gotcha. It hadn't really sunk in yet that club racing is more intense than solo2. I'll have to do saturday, then. I'll shoot for the scheduled solo2 events on the 1st and 2nd of Oct, as well.
Once again, thanks for bringing me down to earth Is there pre-registration required for solo2, or do you just show up? Also, I see a Touring Rally scheduled for the 8th of Oct. Does anyone have experience with this? Road rally sounds like a bit of fun, but I'm curious as to whether it's worth trying or just boring.

I gotta third MAtt and Scott's opinions here. I'm finishing up my second full season here with Reno and this coming weekend is the first time I've made it out for Solo 1/Club Trials... and that's only because I have a new-to-me car that I need seat time in before winter gets here. I don't plan to be very competitive out there, it's just a test and tune for me basically. Like they said, mistakes have a habit of being big mistakes out there.
That said... circle the calender for the remaining Solo 2 events. They're a lot of fun, and you'll learn a ton every time out. See you out there man. As for Touring rally, I haven't heard any details about this. AFAIK it may not even end up happening, but I haven't been at the monthly meetings to hear the details. It won't be a "rally" though- at most it would be a TSD rally, which means trying to average *exactly* the speed limit from one place to another. I think it was mainly conceived as a good reason for more people to get out to Lovelock than otherwise would.

OK, I read the Time Trial rules, and saw next to nothing on classing. do I have to go to the GCRs for those, or the Reno Sups?
I'm contemplating going this weekend if I can actually get some other stuff done this week. But I'm not betting on it.

Dean's car is TT-3 I believe. 2.0 with X1.25 for DOHC and X3.0 for modified factory turbo.

...at least you should, considering Gilson's made you miss three tuning appointments because they can't get anything done in time, the least they can do is cover your dyno time.

I have the AP in, and ST should show up some time in the near future from a Nasiocer in NY.
I found them in the Trail Sups... http://www.renoscca.com/results/2005...TrialsSups.htm I can't decide if you add all the multipliers first, and tehn multiply by displacement, or do displacemtn x multiplier 1 x multiplier ... x multiplier n = adjusted displacement. I am 2.0, and think I have both the other turbo (1.75), and 4 valve/twin cam/V VT (1.25). SO that is 2.0 X 3{1.25+1.75) = 6.0 or 2.0 x 1.75 x 1.25 = 4.375 The former is TT-2 The later is TT-3 To be honest, I don't think I am going to make it do to a boat load of crap I have to do that I haven't done yet.
