Perfect timing!

I just got raped AGAIN by the snack machine this morning. There is an older machine in the kitchen here that has slots that are just a little too narrow for chips. They are always getting jammed in there. Whenever I want chips I have to embark on a 10 day fact finding mission to make sure the chips at the front have enough clearance.

Of course, everything looks fine but you put your money in and bamm, they get stuck. And shaking the machine does nothing since the chips are so light.

I think I have paid a higher average price per snack than anyone in IGT

Hmmm - maybe I should get myself a vending machine route part time..... Might be able to retire early.

Here's what I would do: get one of those tape measures that is metal but flexes. Extend it to 3-4 feet and put it through the slot at the bottom, and jiggle it around to pull off that snack you were cheated out of. (I've used this for another problem I had at home once, but I shouldn't say what that was.... .)

or if its an older machine you could attach a long piece of clear tape on the edge of the dollar and pull it back out after it rang up and get 2 snacks

Maybe I'm not a creative enough thinker, but I can't come up with a single home scenario that's analogous to the technique you just described.

Stuff lost/stuck.dropped behind, or under large furniture or appliances come to mind. Socks behind the dryer, cat hiding under the bed kind of thing...

But none of those are things Debbie thinks she shouldn't tell us about.

Maybe someone once left her handcuffed to the bedposts, and she needed to use a measuring tape to MacGuyver herself the keys off the dresser?

It all depends on what the item was, and where it was lost and how it got there... Any number of things could qualify for things she wouldn't want us to know about. Scott's example for one...
