Default Loud exhaust in Truckee = Fix it ticket!

I finally got pulled over in Truckee for my exhaust. I suppose it was just a matter of time. I popped in my silencer and he signed off on the sound that afternoon. I just hate how it sounds with the silencer in it. Time for a resonator or two.

Yah your car sounds awesome but that would be an expensive exhaust note to sustain in CA, now that you are a known offender.

sorry to hear it.

er, I guess NOT hear it.

Yes it is. I did some research and found on the CHP website that they are trying to deal with this issue as 95 db is allowed. And 95 is very loud. I think mine may be higher than that, but if I can prove it then it would be OK, other than getting pulled over all the time. I'm thinking a resonator is the way to go.

Haha, Nick I think the resonator is the way to go man...I think my exhaust is just slighty quieter than yours, should sneak under the CHP's watch...

ochie.....

how did you get him to sign off on it so quick? If its just somthing to get signed and you dont have to actually get it checked what stops you from doing it over and over, just keep the silencer close by

Small town. I just went home, installed the silencer and went back to find him. He listened and said all is good, he signed the back of the ticket and told me to just bring it to the courthouse on Monday so the letter doesn't get sent in the mail. They did mention to me that they have heard my car several times and were told by the Chief to pull me over next time they saw me.

Now my car sounds like a Honda.

so you going to keep the exhaust? maybe try something with a high flow cat? didn't you already put in the resinator? I wouldn't want to drive with the plug in it all the time thats for sure.........what about just putting the stock axle-back on?

I still have no resonator on it, so that would be my first step in order not to spend the $$ for a new catback. The silencer sucks, so something will be done.

man, i'd better not drive in truckee!
sorry to hear that. I never understood why you'd get a ticket for a loud exhaust. i mean harley's are 10x louder than your car!

Motorcycles are exempt. Watch it in Truckee. I must say though, they were very polite and accomodating about the whole thing, considering I couldn't find either my registration or my insurance card.

Seriously. I wish all the GreyHairs who ride those ear-destroyer Harleys would find some other way to navigate their mid-life crisis.
