Default Private RFR Track day - interest?

I just got a message from a friend up here that does the Audi track days. He has arranged with TNL a private day. It is full as of right now.

However, he told me that if you schedule it on a weekday, you only need 6 entries to reserve the track at a cost of $225 each through TNL. THis also gives you the sign-off for Sunday Test and Tune.

Maybe we should check with Eileen Thomas if this is possible for an SECCS track day.

My friend ended up with around 10 total for the day. If you can imagine that just means a huge amount of track time, probably more than we or our cars could take.

All I need is a car!

Assuming I get it back sooner than later, I intend on getting as much track time as budget and weather allow, just to try and salvage this year's driving season.

10 cars total on track all day for $225? That sounds too good to be true. What about flag workers, do we have to pay extra for them?

I'll get more info. All I know is he did it and they are scheduled for 10/11.

I may still go, but I have no tires right now.

I can't do any more track days until I get some brake rotors

Is there a time limit on this deal, or can we just reserve the track any time for $225 per person?

Ok I just got the lowdown.

The price was $225/person as long as 6 minimum attend. There are NO Flaggers with the assumption that a small a group only requires the start shack to see what is going on. It also assumes that everybody driving knows each other, is courteous and careful etc. Obvioulsy if the group increases to a certain size, flag workers would be required. This was a deal he negotiated, but he felt confident we could do it as well. It must be an available weekday - no weekends.

He is currently doing this with eight confirmed reservations. I think I would feel comfortable out there without flags if it were 10 or less of us.

No run groups! Track is open for as much driving as you can take from 8am - 4 pm. Instruction provided as requested

Sign off for Test tune available as well.

Sounds kind of fun to me although I can't imagine there would be no Flaggers, especially if the top section is open. I suppose a call to TNL is in order.

I just put a call in to find out more specifics from TNL. I should have more detail by the end of the week.

This is what Buttonwillow does as well on small test days. No flaggers, just Warren sitting in his truck at the S/F line...

I have to miss the last solo2, so I'm definitely open to alternatives. . .

I dont think this event would be good for somone that hase'nt ever been to that track.I think the pace might be a little fast considering the amount of track time most of us have on this track and no run groups it will be crazy out there

I just got off the phone with ET (Eileen Thomas of TNL). The deal is true. $225 per person on any open Monday thru Thursday event. We get the whole track as long as we have a minimum 6 people. It includes instructors and unlimited track time. She recommended and I agree to wait a few weeks for the whole track to be open. She did caution that an event like this should not include people without track experience as they would not be allowed on the upper portion of the track. Not that they can't attend, it just makes coordination a little more difficult as they would probably create run groups (2) - still not bad as we and our cars will require some down time (at least I will require it for me).

She said they probably would try to have a couple stations with flaggers to coordinate between the far ends and upper track.

So let's start thinking about a date. This can be anyMonday thru Thursday including next year. Although I imagine fees may rise a tad due to all the new track.

I'd be interested, but being a track noob, I don't know if it'd work for me this time around.

You mean you should have your snow tires on by late Nov/Dec?

Doesn't anyone remember that for the last few years, it's been snowing in November, right?

Yah that should make the technical section fun!

I agree with Scott though, unless we do it fairly soon, this may be a spring option. However, if everyone if fairly flexible for last minute calls, we may be able to set one up during a "nice" weather spell this winter. We do get those nice days even in December. I'll find out from TNL how much notice they need to schedule.

Actually I was thinking of when I can replace my awesome warped crappy brake rotors.

I totally forgot about the snow situation.
