Car: 05 STi
Default Uppipe on '04 WRX

On the weekend I remember we were talking about this and someone (I think it was kevin) was saying that there is no cat in the uppipe in the 04 WRX. Today I checked my old uppipe, (which is conveniently sitting on my garage floor), and there definately IS a cat in there. (Either that or a gerbil got stuck in there).

Sorry franz, looks like you will be forking out the extra money after all

Huh!!? Maybe it's just the STi that has no up-pipe cat... but I was pretty sure I remember reading that because of a better O2 sensor in the '04+ cars, they no longered needed the up-pipe cat which was only there to get the cold-start emmissions past CA law.

so, you're saying that there is definitely a cat in there, but possibly not a catalytic converter?
