Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.
Default CR reviews Impreza... Hate at will.

If just so happens that the Feb. issue of Consumer Reports rates small Sedans, including the Impreza....

Let the CR hating begin... You mamma's so ugly, she got a black circle in Consumer Reports...

Intro paragraph:
Quote:
The Impreza was freshened for 2006, with more horsepower, and a revised exterior. The sporty WRX got a biger engine, but handling became less forgiving at the limits. The Impreza is an agile, confortable-riding sedan that features standard AWD. However, the weight of the AWD system takes a toll on acceleration and fuel economy. The interior is cramped, particularly in the rear seat. The fixed rear seatbacks do not fold. interior materials are unimpressive. Reliability has been excelent.
Other interesting notes:
Quote:
The four-cylinder boxer engine makes a distinct, but not unpleasant sound... The Impreza is one of the most agile sedans we've tested. Body lean is restrained, and steering is responsive with good feedback. Emergency handling was not as forgiving as in the others in this group. The tail tended to slide out, limiting speed, and confidence in avoidance maneuvers. This tendency is more pronounced in the WRX...
I read this as they took some understeer out, but average drivers will not like it as much.

Quote:

I can't find anything overtly unpleasant about that review. . . I think my only beef is with the tone of the "emergency handling" comment. What are they comparing the Impreza to that causes them to make such a stink about the way it handles aggressive maneuvers?

So you're saying this "Impreza" thing is a decent car? I should look into getting one, they sound neat!

Sounds to me like they're telling us the car actually turns. Which must be bad, since I too like to avoid danger by plowing directly into it.

Other cars in class: Civic, Mazda 3, Focus, Jetta, Prius, Corolla, Elantra, Spectra, Cobalt, Ion, Forenza. In this test, the 2.5i had the worst top speed through their emergency handling maneuver and the WRX was third worst. If I recall correctly, this test is a 1 lane change and back with cone walls. The test is to see how fast the car can negotiate it at a constant speed without hitting cones.

Civic EX: 54.0 MPH
Civic Hybrid: 52.5
Jetta: 55.0
WRX: 53.5
2.5i: 52.0

FULL-SIZED PICKUPS

That POS isn't even a truck, let alone a full-size truck.

SMALL WAGONS
Ford Focus
The Focus is an accomplished wagon that is agile and fun to drive.

I guess they gave me the shit box package when I drove one.

Consumer Reports needs to stick to appliances.

OIC. I guess I can't argue with that, seeing as my stock suspension was deservedly the first thing to go. . .
