Default Reno AutoX

Hello Reno folks -
I'm a member of Reno SCCA and am glad to help with questions anyone out there has about how Reno region works. I worked at registration this past season, so I know a number of reno participants and if I can't answer a question I s/b able to point you to someone who can. I also raced in D-Stock Ladies class in my WRX wagon. I hope some of you will join us next season, it is a blast!

There were two other regular WRX drivers through the entire season in D-Stock, with a few visiting WRXs and Legacys joining us now and then. D-Stock was won by an 02 WRX driver. STS class was won by an 00 Impreza driver. Yours truly won DSL (though I didn't have any competition - ).

Avg. participation was around 75 drivers per event. We had 19 events from April through October (most at Stead airport, but also raced at Hawthorne airport & Boreal parking lot). The season began with an AutoX school. We haven't confirmed a class date for the next season yet, but we should have some dates in January.

Let's hear what others out there have questions about!
-Debbie

Wow, that's a lot of people and a lot of events! What's the format, 4 sessions, 4 laps each session? How long does a session usually take?

I'm used to a smaller crowd... sometimes it's so sparse, we'll do 5 lap sessions!

5 lap session, that's an enduro!

Run groups are set up by car classes. The club tries to set them up so the # of participants are comparable across run groups (based on historical experience). 4 run groups, grouped by color - 2 run groups in the morning, and 2 after lunch. You run one run group, and work the other.

How many runs you get and how long it takes depends on how many participants appear to be running that day and how short the course is. If there are not very many showing up in the morning - we get more runs. This summer our avg. was 5-6 runs per event. If we end early, fun runs are also held ($1/run). Avg. was about 1-1.5 hrs. per run group.

Average course layouts were 1+ minute courses. Hawthorne was an avg. 90 second+ course, (3rd gear on some straight sections).

Usually the Saturday events we run the course in one direction (i.e. clockwise), and then on Sunday the direction is reversed.

Wow, that's sounds pretty much the same as the American Autocross events.

When I said 5 runs in a session, I meant five one-lap runs, not a 5 lap run (i.e. Enduro style). We also did the same 4 groups... 2 before lunch 2 after. And we also ran the course backwards the 2nd day.

The thing that sucked for me tho, was having to drive 2 hrs to Sacramento for the event... or worse, drive to Monterey!! I'm all about the local events this season.

Also, the season begins in January!? I guess the Jan events *aren't* in the Boreal parking lot!

We'll know more about dates in January, but the season doesn't start until April.

However, in January the Northwest Region SCCA has a conference here in Reno, at the Atlantis. I think the dates are Jan 10-12. There's a link to the conference info off renoscca.com if anyone is interested.

What I can't wait for, is the Fernley road course to get open. Anybody else?

I like the subSilver.....the other looks 'ghetto' compared to it. This looks clean and well done. But I want more happy face people. Like:

Any Idea yet if we can add them in?
