You're stuck using '99, unless you replace the manifold and whatnot. '99 was the only year of SOHC with MAF. Well, '05 is too but it's DBW, and later years are DBW with AVLS.

Would i be better off using a different year heads / ecu ?
can i just use a different MAF sensor and the corresponding ECU ? (found a 2000 ecu online for $50)
hmmf

any part 93-01 is fair game, .. i just don't know what a good route is / do-able route is .

I'm confused why i'm stucking using that intake manifold? is there a sensor in the intake manifold unique to that year? (that would explain it )

The '99 RS manifold is a little different than 2000-2004 in terms of sensors and such, though they both have the same bolt pattern. Basically you just need your ECU, wiring and intake manifold to be the same model year group, or you're stuck trying to hack together fixes for things like missing MAP sensors.

hmm I found a 01 intake manifold, and wiring harness , and a seperate seller with ecu .. this a safe route?

also i read the 93 Ecu / harness will run the 2.5 but limit my rpms to 6k and won't be using the knock sensor (back up plan )

trying to make High desert trails in April ... hmm

(and oops guess this is more technical threadish now)

You can use the '99 longblock with '01 ECU, wiring and manifold.
