Nah, I didnt really like how the stockers handled in the rain and want to keep miles off the snows so they last, and I didnt notice much of a difference when I switched to snows.

Can someone with experience running both these and Azenis 615s tell me how they compare? I might be interested in these.

If you think the RE070's feel just like snow tires, then what's so extreme about them?

I said the snows felt close, the only things i can tell is it feels softer when taking a corner and of course higher speeds.
They are almost slicks, Ive driven in the rain with them in the first part of winter and even going less than 60mph they wanted to hydroplane.

Is it wrong I want different tires? Im not a freaking racer like you, Im willing to give up a bit of handling for a better all-around tire.

No, you are correct. The RE070s are a pure summer max performance tire. About as agressive of a street tire that there is.

Relatively speaking, they suck in any conditions other than dry. We can point you to some great 3 season tires if you want to complement your snows. Let us know what your preference is. Performance, or tire longevity. Unfortunately, those two are inversely proportional. We can set you up for about $100 a tire with something that fits your needs.

I have the Avon Tech M550 A/S in mind, It seems people on NASIOC really like them, and the tire rack reviews seem to agree.

Since you have dedicated snows, I don't think an all-season makes much sense as they will never see snow. A "summer" tire with good wet traction might be better. The M500, and KDW2s excel in the wet more so than the All Seasons, and being symetrical, can be rotated side to side without flipping on the rims.

thanks for the advice, ill think about it
edit:just looked on nasioc and TireRack and it seems the 550's are actually a bit better. The KdWs didny have too many good reviews, so i think im gonna stick with the 550's. Thanks tho.

i am running kdw2s on my summer rims and they seem to be alright....i currently have pirelli p-zero nero m+s for the winter....in my opinion probably the best 3-4 season tire you can buy...you might want to give those a look. just my 2 cents.

You clearly missed my point, and you're contradicting yourself...

How can you "not notice much difference" between RE070's and your snows, yet describe how much they want to hydroplane? RE070's are designed for maximum dry grip, at the expense of all other handling. Which is why your comment that your snow tires felt the same is so rediculous.

And of course it's your perogative to want different tires... hell, it's better for those of us that do race if you sell your tires, 'cause 070's cost too much new. Plus, I'd much rather see people w/o track training on some tires that are a bit more forgiving on the street, if only to keep our insurance rates down.

i never specified rain, I was thinking that most people would know I meant dry handling. So im not contradicting myself. Yea, I would like a bit more forgiving tire since I probably wont ever get trained, I dont drive crazy (anymore ) but it would still be nice to have a less aggresive tire.

I'm pretty sure tires can be rotated side to side as long as they aren't directional, which the KDW2s are. You can flip any symmetrical or asymmetrical tire side to side unless they are directional. You cannot flip an asymmetric tire on the rim to extend its life though.

Khail is right, I was looing at the V shaped directional groves, and typed asymetrical instead, but what I meant stands for the 500s. I thought the KDWs were non-directional as well, but was wrong.

Ssssooooo. . .?

In particular, I'm curious about the differences in ride quality and dry grip.
I just checked the specs on the 070s, and saw that the treadwear rating is only 140. . . is that right?

Give it a few months, I think at least 2, maybe 3 STi owners will have these on once the warm weather kicks in. Last year nobody had them locally AFAIK.

I got about 2,500 miles out of my first set (1000 of which was gentle because I was still breaking in the car) ... so yes

No one's run the RT-615's yet, they came out mid last season, and nobody needed tires at that point. Plus they cost about $50/tire too much, so no one was willing to spring for 'em anyway.

Haha, 200 treadwear rating on the 615s FTW, I guess.
