Default EGT gauge required?

I'm still finishing up my research on my stage2 parts purchases but can't really decide about my gauges. I will be getting a wideband with probably the AEM gauge that has numerical and "needle" readout. Also, I'm going to get the 3 gauge clock pod and I've decided on Boost and Oil Pressure. For the 3rd gauge its between EGT and Oil Temp. If I have the wideband gauge do I really need the EGT?

I have done some research around the web and at NAZIOC but I can never find a definitive answer.

Also, if I want to use the oil galley plug for the OP and OT is there a Y style connector available?

Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.

There is no difinitive answer.

EGT probably comes before wideband. Unless you plan to do your own tuning, wideband is probably not as important and if you are tuning, you need both.

Here is my gauge list in order of preference... (Oil and clock on the dash, other 3 on the A-Pillar)
Boost
Oil Temp
Oil Pressure
EGT
Wide Band
Clock

And yes, you can get a 'Y' or a 'T' style adapter to run both oil press. and oil temp. off of a single port.

Check out a place called "Hoses and fittings" over at Glendale and Rock, across from Baldini's.

As a driver you should have these:
Boost
Oil Pressure
Oil Temp

As a tuner you should have these:
Boost
Lambda
EGT

The more information the better. The only problem is finding places to mount it all.

Bonus for multi-conditional alarming.
examples:
((Oil pressure < 30 psi) & (RPM > 1500)) = Low Oil Pressure!!!
((AFR > 12.0:1) & (boost > 5psi) & (throttle > 60%)) = Lean fuel mixture!!!

Not true. I think many if not most or all stage 2 tunes would violate this condition (and maybe even the stock STI tune). The thottle position has nothing to do with it either. It is common to run leaner than 12:1 or even 13:1 at 5psi despite 91 octane. I run stoich (14.7:1) to about 3psi. It helps spool.

Thanks for the info guys. For now I was probably going to buy a stage 2 map from XPT. I do want to learn how to tune and wanted to try tweaking that map. That is why I was going to get a wideband.

So I think this will be the plan then.

OP OT EGT in the clock pod.
Boost in the SubieGal pod that goes in the corner of the windshield/dash/A pillar
AFR in an Autometer Dual Cluster Bezel (will have an open spot for maybe a Flow rate/Pressure Gauge if I get a meth injection kit)

I guess the next question is if anyone has access to a drill press so I can tap the manifold. Beer/pizza/$$$ would of course be provided.

I will definitely go with a Y or T adapter since I don't want to mess with a sandwich adapter. I'll stop by that shop.

Thanks again.
