Default Subaru Dealerships in the North

How are the dealerships up there in North Nevada? I've been talking to Rod Allen at Lithia Subaru in Reno about buying a car from them. I just wanted to get some feedback on how they are...

I like Lithia, they've never treated me poorly. Rod has a good reputation too.

Lithia is awful to deal with as far as the salesman I've met. I had a terrible experience when buying my car a couple of years ago. The guy you are talking to seems to be the best guy to deal with though. Search his name or Lithia on this board, there's been a couple of threads.

Thats what I am getting from him. he matched the quoted price I got from Irvine Subaru on an 05 WRX Wagon... (super Low Price) But I'm having issues with trading in my car because they want to give me like $2000 under KBB Trade-in.

No car Dealer will give KBB they are going give you whole sale or slightly higher than whole sale KBB only is for private party selling you need to look up trade in value of the car

Yup, and dealers go by the lowest value, ususally. For example my car, KBB private sale ~10k. KBB Dealer sale ~12k. KBB trade in, ~8k.

That was my experience with him as well. He seemed happy to give me a new car at invoice, but the trade in value for my car was horrendous, well below KBB. I sometimes wonder if I walked in with cash, and wasn't trading a car, if they would still be as eager to let a new car go for invoice.

My KBB trade-in is $8k. But they only want to give $6000. I told them that Irvine Subaru offered me 7500 for my trade and Lithia said they would match it but wanted me to drive it up to them first... I said "hell No". I'm not driving 500 miles for them to offer me crap for my car. I'll buy from Irvine then.

for me it is.... Reno is 500 miles and Irvine is 280 miles.

Its the difference of a day trip to an over night trip.

They aren't a good dealership. My friends 04 WRX's engine blew (after 4 months) and they blamed it on him taking out the intake silencer. So they said since he took it out the MAF ran lean and caused the engine failure. They wouldn't cover it on warranty. They sadi they would fix it for $7000! He said hell no and bought a front clip from a V.7 STi Spec RA for $4500 and put it in himself. I have had not so great deals with them too.

Keep in mind that the sales and service dept. are almost two seperate companies. A dealership w/ bad service might still have raging good deals, and a dealership with awful deals might help you install a boost controller.
