Great bunch of guys work there.. especially the mechanics.. oh yeah and the dyno tuner... They really helped me when my car was in need and did a great job with just about everything from the install, to the dyno tune. SAFE dyno TUNE. They stock alot of parts and sell them for a very reasonable price. The drive is a little for us reno guys.. but i think it's well worth it.

Ordered a few things from them. Tracking number provided the second it shipped. All items arrived well packed and as ordered.

I ordered my backseat from them. They shipped promptly but they dragged hard on getting me an invoice to give my insurance company. They told me they were faxing one several times but didn't. I got it eventually but it took more nagging than I think there should have been.

+eleventy billion for Mike's tuning skills. Tuning was $171 + the cost of the accessport for two maps. My car was on the dyno for over 4 hours, and must have done 40 - 50 pulls. Now it drives as smooth as silk.

It was a bit of an extra drive compared to S-Squared, but they work on saturdays which means no time off work for me, and Mike sure knows his stuff. I will definately be going back!

Default gruppe-s story

I bought headers from gruppe-s and they were shipped right away. They forgot to send my gaskets with it though. I called them and they sent them out right away, but sent the wrong header to up-pipe gasket. I reused the gasket that was already on there and had a leak, so i called them back and they sent the right one. Turned out to be a process.
I also was scheduled to get tuning done there with a turboxs utec. I told them i was coming from Reno and even scheduled the appointment over 3 weeks in advance, making sure they knew i wanted to get a turboxs utec tuned. They said they could, so i was pumped. I get down there at 10 when they opened on friday, waited there for a half hour or more all anxious to get this thing tuned. Finally someone acknowledges me and i tell him what i was there for. He acted as if he didn't know i was coming to get a UTEC tuned!?! The guy then goes on to tell me he can't tune it due to the elevation difference from SF to Reno. I was not happy at all, but luckly i knew some people in SF and was able to chill for the weekend. I just felt like that was very unprofessional and they should have better communication in their office. The guy i talked to was kinda cocky too, this did not help my situation, since i was venting steam out of my ears at this point. I now understand that the utec is only ment for one ambient wheather condition (the condition that it is tuned at). Since I am always driving in the mountains, the utec was not a good choice for me. Next is the Ecutek or the Accessport. That was a pain in the a** though.

Sorry for the bad experience you received from us (I was the cocky one you spoke to) We are working on training the sales staff to be able to assist in the bookings of appointments but unfortunately sometimes things fall through the cracks such as being able to advise you that any UTEC tune we might do for you at our premises is likely to need some modifying back in Reno.

If your going to get a AccessPort in replacement of your UTEC and feel like a drive come on down again and we will tune it for you for free (regardless of whether you buy it from us or not!). If you want an EcuTek tune let me know and we'll work you a deal on the reflash.

Hey, Thanks for the offer. You wern't that cocky, I was just annoyed at the time. I will be getting an Access Port. As of now I am scheduled to get it tuned with S-squared for $750. I would drive back down to SF, but the gas prices are out of control right now. S-squared is a little closer.
Just to let you know, your headers are working great now. I installed the new gasket and there are no more leaks . I also sold the UTEC on ebay, so no problems there. Thanks for the Reply

OK I have had the car for a couple of days now and it feels amazing!
I trailered the car to GruppeS last week to have some work done and a Protune! Mike Wakefield shop Mgr/owner one them and tuner had a lot of problems get the car tuned proper. My car had some issues it took a couple of days to get it right! Even though the shop side of GruppS was going through some major employment changes mike still gave me a lot of dyno/tune time. When I got back to Reno (ele.aprox 4400ft)The car was doing some weird stuff so Mike email me 4 maps and drove to reno to solve the problem that next day! So a big thanks to Mike at GruppeS!

I was at Gruppe-s last saturday, and due to some issues with the craptastic headers I bought, my car wasn't ready for the dyno until around 8 pm. Mike then hung around until after 10pm to make sure everything was tuned right. The car is smooth as silk, and saw some good power increases. Thanks Mike!! (I will post numbers later today, I left the sheet at home)

How about a thread on those headers next? I'm shopping for some.

Go with Gruppe-s headers (I will be ). Much cheaper, they sound great (remember them on Eric's car?) and are dyno proven. They will soon be offering them pre-coated as well.

I will do a separate review of my current headers later on.

Sounds like Gruppe-S found a new supplier for the coating process? Or are they just going to a coating on the outside only?

Actually we just finished setting up the coating deal about 30 minutes ago. We will have 10 sets back from coating in 2 weeks (shipping from here today) and will be coated on the outside only not inside.

Yeah, i may go this route before spring time too, I think this is the only header setup that interests me. Sounds good.

Okay, I went and placed my order on the website, even though the headers are listed as "back ordered" still. Hopefully I'll be able to get in on that 1st batch of outer-coated-only headers.
