Default Car and Driver / TireRack tire review

Check it out, some interesting results due to their testing in the wet, something that we autocrossers don't really discuss much.

Very interesting. Is there one of these tests done on high performance summer/track tires? This is very useful information... but I'm curious to see how 070's and 615's compare to they're competition (and what they're competition is).

Aren't the Kumho MX's what Nick had on the P1's? If so how'd you like those tires Nick? What was your opinion autocrossing them and rain use?

How important do you think it is to have wet traction? I still haven't competed in a full season of autocross yet, but it doesn't seem like there are very many wet events. Maybe it's not that big a deal to run a wet event on stock/summer tires. I dunno. It seems like there is a significant amount of thought that goes into track tire selection... Is that because the extreme high speeds reached in a track setting?

Interesting...

They left out most of the tires that Discount tire sells except the Hankook. Probably means you will be able to get the Hankooks from tirerack now, or shortly. The missed the Nitto, Falken, and at least one other DT brand I can't remember. Oh, and the 070 ain't there because it isn't available in more than a couple sizes. Probably never make a test session due to that.

Probaly the best option is to take these results, and combine them with the GRM results for dry data/decisions. I don't beleive GRM did a wet test. I'm pretty sure teh 615 cam out on top of that test beating even the KD's dry numbers.
