I'd be interested in a set of 225/45R17 RT-215s. I think that's the old Sports. :?:

Don't worry, your tires will get much hotter in Solo1 than Solo2 (mostly due to the tremendous braking loads you put on them), but they're not hot until about halfway through your run, so you'd have to make up a lot of time in the second half of the course to make up for the first half. Street tires (or good cold-performing R's) are sticky right off the bat, and a Solo1 run isn't long enough to overheat them unless you're driving really hard on them.

...'course I say that now, without having participated in a Lovelock Trials when it's 110 degrees out... but IIRC, Matt was saying that the street tires were actually handling the heat better than the guys on race tires.

One of the Benson brothers has a set of 17" RA-1s for sale that you could probably pick up pretty cheap. I'm not sure of the exact size though- they're on Mustang wheels.

How many pairs are we talking here? if I can get a quantity needed tomorrow, I may have some interesting news.

ST-615's (New ones)
or Old Style Sports?

1. Matt R (4)
2.
3.
4.

Also, for future reference, I can get tires shaved for $15 ea.

Put me down for a set of the old azenis sports, 225/45/17!

What about other tires, like ST-115 in 245/35/18 for my street usage? If you can get them cheaper then I can, then I'm in for 4 ST-115s.

Are you getting different street wheels? 245s are a bit too big for those P1s.

I'm personally not willing to do it. I'm wanting to run 245/40R17s, but I don't think it's a good idea on the 17x7.5 Rotas I have. Although, for street tires it might be a little less of an issue.

Nick Koan 2005-03-14 06:42 PM

Yeah, I looked into it some more. I'll probably stick with 225 actually.

I will ask about those as well.

Yeah, they are too wide. Good thought though.

MattR 2005-03-14 07:46 PM

Okay, I will do some dealin' tomorrow and let you guys know. I'm hoping that by ordering 16 to 20 tires, I can get a killer deal. Stay tuned.

Kevin M 2005-03-14 07:49 PM

I htink Nick actually needs 225/35R18s for his ST-215s.

Dean 2005-03-14 08:13 PM

I want 2 sets but would like to see pricing for both old rt-215 and new rt-615 sports. 225/45-17.

I thought the retread place in Sparks would shave tires for $10 each. I don't have my notes from before nationals here.

He said they've been 15 for ever, but maybe he thought I was still tlaking about commercial tires.

I will check on pricing on both obviously.

Dean 2005-03-14 08:22 PM

Like I said, I don't have my notes. I know they were cheaper than Sunshine, but I already had them mounted, and they wanted them unmounted.

Discount tire still has the rt-215s for $111 retail and rt-615s for $139. Don't know if we can get the Khail discount still, but thought if your trucks go to Phoenix, we could save on shipping.

Yeah, we can do the free shipping thing no problem.

Sweet. But, could I revise that to 225/35/18 (like Kevin pointed out)?

Thanks.

That size is not available, we'll go with the 225-40- 18

If you can get it, that would work out just fine. Thats actually what I have on right now, but from tire size calculators 225/35/18 was slightly better (but not by much)

Sweet dude.

MattR 2005-03-15 09:00 AM

http://www.falkentire.com/tires_st115_sizes.htm

here's the tire sizes.

sperry 2005-03-15 09:13 AM

I'm interested in:

a 225/45/17 set of RT-215's,
a 225/45/17 set of RT-615's (why don't they have 245s!!?! :x ),
a 255/40/17 set of ST-115's for the SVX (unless I decide to get 18's for the SVX... in which case I'll need a 245/40/18 I think.)

'Course, I have no money for 1 set of tires... let alone 3 sets of tires and 2 sets of rims. :(

I thought we gave the bat back to Aaron after punching out the rear fenders on the SVX?
