If I started answering my cell phone...

...with the phrase "you're go for sperry!", would I be a huge douche, or the hugest douche?

Nick Koan 2008-09-15 02:19 PM

You'd also have to start ending each call with "sperry out!"

This thread. It's going places!

...like straight off the bottom of the thread list.

Nick Koan 2008-09-15 03:14 PM

A poll is needed obviously.

You could just answer it "huge douche" or "hugest douche" and cut out the middle man. :)

Continue to refer to yourself in the internet third person.

Scott, I'll have you know that we answer out two-way radios here at work with "Go for xxx." It doesn't sound quite as douchy in that application. However, if you were standing in a line somewhere and answered your phone "You're go for Sperry!.." I would hope a total stranger would kick out your legs from under you and smash your phone.

Awesome thread topic BTw..

You'd actually be really cool you should do it.

Really it sounds like something Bobby would do.

10-4 good buddy!

I started this thread because some douche wearing his cornflower blue tie answered his blackberry that way yesterday as he walked by my cube.

I would have attacked his legs for you, but his shoes were worth more than my car, so I figured it was best to keep my job by not assaulting some VP or whoever he was.

It would be amusing for telemarketers though.

"You are a go for sperry"
"Hi, I'd like to talk to you about your auto insurance... "
"You are a no-go for sperry" *click*

Naw, just start screaming "NO GO! NO GO! ABORT! EJECT! OMG, IT'S A CODE NIIIIIINEE *static*" and hang up.

I answer the phone with "Ahoy-hoy."

Answer the phone as if you just dropped a call and that person just called you back. "hey sorry about that, I'm on my way to Vegas and I have horrible service through here. So anyways..."

ScottyS 2008-09-16 07:41 PM

If you answer that way in public, mandatory body language applies. For instance, a snap of the index finger at the phone as you enunciate "GO".

Also, you must insert at least one of each into the conversation, in your best NASA controller clip: "copy that", "roger", "over", "repeat last", and "out".
