Default Storing Rims+tires

Hey, as most of you know i got those new rims for my car. As of now, i have the rims and tires just sitting ontop of eachother in my garage. Is there a certain way i should store them? I have a feeling (using logic) that the tires will get messed up since there is no weight on them. I dont know how i got that in my head but anyway...
I know there are tons of people in this club that have extra track rims and tires and store them for away for the winter (just like I am). Can you guys help me out?

Thanks
mike

I have my tires and rims stored on shelves...There is really no one best way to store them,,,the only thing I would recommend, is keep them from contacting the cement in the garage, the cement actually draws moisture out of the tires and causes pre-mature cracking and aging...Use a piece of carpet, or wood to sit them on.

Other than that, the tire will not deform at all.

Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.

If you want to be fanatical about it...

Clean them....
Let them dry completely
Wax the rims
light coat of tire protector on the rubber ONLY!
Pressure to 15PSI or so
45 gallon trash bags, with as much air out as possible, sealed
stacked on their sides, not on the tread is best.

Oh, if the rims stick out beyond the tires, put cardboard under them, between them, and on top...

(ya this is a pretty old thread, that's what you get for using the darn search button)

One important thing to consider is that Tires are a huge fire danger. not that they combust that easy but once going you are screwed. so if at all possible to store your tires away from other flamable materials, oil rags, oils, etc. (away from your house locked in a shed)

Or just leave 28 tires stacked up next to 50 gallons of used oil in the garage like me. (No, I'm not joking.)

28 tires Scott? May I ask why? And, are you too lazy to take that used oil to be reclaimed or what? I've heard of pack rats, but sheesh!

I have 3 sets of tires
Our other roommate has 3 also
Scott has 4

So, minus the one set for each car (3) we have 28 tires in 3 stacks at the moment.

And yeah, also 3 guys are far too lazy to drop the oil off at the Kragen thats like over 1 mile away.

Okay, here's the break down:

Me:
4 almost dead RT-215's on Enkei RPF1's (WRX)
4 ST-115's on A-Tech Erasors (SVX)
4 RT-615's unmounted (WRX)

Nick:
4 RE070's on Rota Whateverthefucknewrimshebought (LGT)
4 RE070's unmounted (LGT)

Matt (opur other roommate):
4 ST-115's unmounted (BMW)
4 RT-215's on Replica BBS wheels (BMW)

All stacked up in the garage.

Plus the oil from about 40 or so changes between the three of us that we never bothered to take to Kragen. There's so much that it'll take like 15 trips to get rid of it, so we keep talking about getting a waste oil drum dropped off, but we don't know who to call about that so we just keep letting it pile up.

Actually, those 'unmounted' tires of mine are actually mounted on the Gram Lights.

I think he meant "gay"... but we'll let it slide.

I *do* have a fire extunguisher in the garage. I bought it when my fuel rails were leaking on the WRX. (There's one in the car as well.)

What's the max amount of used oil a single person can bring at one time in Nevada? In California it's 5 gallons. If it's the same, you each show up at kragen with 5gallons each, that's only 3 trips to dump most of it.

BTW: I had one of those aluminum floor jacks and it broke in a scary sort of way. It just let go one day while I was changing wheels. Fortunately it was after I had the wheel on.

I would... as long as you're talking about used motor oil, and not making a pass at me.
