I could snatch second place in DSP from Jeff Nielson if only I hadn't missed the last two saturdays. . .

Thanks for the results Dean. How serious is the problem with the Miata? The points get interesting when you start looking at the drops.

Matt, you've got a 31 point lead over me... I did some quick math. It looks like I have to win 5 of the last 6 if you place 2nd or 1st in the rest of the events, for me to win SM by 1 point.

Man, I really hurt my chances w/ those 3rd place finishes last weekend.

Yeah, I'm really sorry about that

On a related note, the nooblar points have been converted (Alex and Cody). and sent to Dean. You guys in ESP need to watch out, Cody has won 4 of the 5 events he has showed up to!

I just feel the need to let it be known that I beat Lucas by .1 on Saturday. Just cause he was driving his WRX for the first time and on stock RE92s doesn't mean anything

5? I thought I ran Novice at events 1, 2 and 5. 5 was in Alex's car if that matters.

And I ran events 3,4,7 and 8 in ESP so that should be a total of 7 no?

Alex's car isn't ESP legal, if I'm thinking of the right Alex, so that shouldn't matter/count.

I just checked, I have no results for you for rounds 2 or 5. Look at the results that are currently on the website for those days, if you were there you would have novice results in the raw time page.

I foresee a problem w/ this... not specifically regarding Cody, but with the conversion of novice points in general. None of the class participants were aware that they might have been competing w/ some of the Novices, which means none of them would have paid attention to the legality of the cars they raced against. Hell, Novices aren't even required to class their cars, meaning a Novice could be running a Vette then show up in a DS WRX to finish the season... it's not like Timing & Scoring has any official record of the cars that were entered because registration doesn't police the entries outside of getting a name from the participant.

I see a problem in the future where someone checks the results after a Novice converts to a class, sees that they're suddenly in 2nd instead of 1st, and calls "unfair!" And, I've got to agree with them.

Again, I'm not talking about Cody and ESP in particular, and since the rule is in the sups for this season, I support the reclassing for this season, but I think things should probably be changed for next year. Originally I didn't think there'd ever be an issue, because it's rare that Novices would be competative in a class right out of the box, but this season's Novices have proven otherwise.

In general, the conversion of points isn't fair because there are people running in class against unknown competition. If I was running in a class w/ slow competitors, I wouldn't necessarily push myself or my car as hard if I knew there was a Novice running faster than me in my class. Suddenly my easy 1st place becomes a 2nd... simply because I was lightfooting it to save the car since it appeared that I had the event wrapped up.

In addition, a Novice could run 8 events, then choose at the halfway point of the season to switch to an uncontested class just to win a championship because they know no one else can qualify for a trophy in it.

Anyway, I'm rambling a bit...

As for this specific case, I have to agree it doesn't bother me too much. But then again, I knew I was running against Cody as well as Derrick (oh, and those mustangs too). There is a small element of suprise with the new results. I assume, I lose 2 points, Derrick loses 5 and Cody gains 21 over the season. I believe that puts him a head of me by a bit for the season (at least closes the gap), but it also brings Derrick closer to us. If I didn't know to expect this, then I could see getting angry over it (but again, its not my way to get angry over a season which I still consider developmental).

Also, Cody if I remember correctly, you did only run that Saturday on the first weekend and not the Sunday. Something about a previous engagement.

Wait a second Cody...

are you sure you ran only event 5 in Alex's STi?

From the following post on April 12th, it sounds like you were running the STi in 1 and maybe 2. Event 5 was at Hawthorne which I remember you were signed up for, but didn't attend.

Wow, I'm pretty fast for a WRX wagon...oh wait, I was driving an STi.

I guess it doesn't really matter that my car is listed since its Novice?
EDIT: also, from later in the thread on April 13th.

And Mike you did write down the car that Cody Owns correctly. But on Saturday he Co-driver my 05 STI. (I must have not written my car make/model down clearly enough, my penmanship is very poor)

I'm defiantly Running at least 2 more as novice, maybe up to 5 more before I switch into a class. (Probably into sm if I wanted to have a plethora of Competitors)
I think its all coming back to me now. Your car was getting painted during the week prior to the first event and you didn't get it back in time and co-drove Alex's STi on Saturday. And didn't show up on Sunday at all. Is that right?

No, ffs means "for fuck's sake", ffs!

I have checked the raw data on the timing PC, and my backups here at work and on my USB key. You weren't at rounds 2 or 5. (If you were, then you just got screwed, because I have no results for you).

Shit, you may be right. I can't remember.

And I agree with everything Scott and you said. It doesn't sound very fair. It should definately be changed starting next year.

Ah, Cody. Event 5 was at Hawthorne. I'm pretty sure you skipped that event.

5 and 6 were in Hawthorne and I wasn't there.
