Reno SCCA Club Trials July 22/23
The next round of track trials are near, and the entry deadline is July 15th. The best way to go about it is to register online at myautoevents.com, then pay with a check the day of the event. Which is July 22 and 23
We will be running a different configuration at Reno Fernley, which will include the upper portion. It should be very challenging. Payment is by check mailed to the registrar OR check or cash at the event. A $30 late fee will apply to registrations postmarked after July 15, 2006 or received online after July 15, 2006.(Payment is not required prior to July 15, just the registration, to avoid the late fee) Any checks mailed in advance will be held and will not be deposited until after the event. Lots of info can be found on the main page at renoscca.com Also, looks like there's an option to opt out of work, but even if you do work this time, you ony have to work for two 40 minute sessions, so it won't be a big deal. Hope to see some seccers out there

I'll be gone on another scca event (again). One of these days we're going to get one of the RX8's out there though. And hopefully Mark's stu-prepped car will be at Stead this weekend.

This (hopefully he won't mind me lifting this from rx8club). I got a 2nd place in L2 at the Mineral Wells ProSolo in it.

So, if I want to come out and do this, would it be absolutely stupid for me to do it with stock brake pads? And/or if my (stock) pads are at about 1/3-1/2 left will I be buying new ones afterwords?

It wouldn't be absolutely stupid, especially if it was your first track event, but I would still strongly recommend some higher temp front pads for the event. Especially if you have to drive the car home afterwards! (And fresh fluid too)

Yeah, if your pads were fresh, they might be okay, but 1/2 worn to start and they'll be done after the event. Remember, part of the cost of track time is adding to your brake and tire budget, not just entry fees.

Most tech inspectors won't let you pass w/ less than 1/2 width on the pads unless you show 'em the 2nd set you brought with you to swap out part way through the event.

Yeah, I know. The costs are what I am trying to get a handle on. Will be out of town for the AutoX this weekend or that might give me my fix.

Your stock pads will most likely fade at RFR and old stock fluid very well may boil depending on how hard you drive. Personally, I'd do what Mike suggested (fresh fluid and high temp pads in the front). Have fun!

I just talked to RFR, they are adding a Friday open Test-n-Tune before the event because they've had several people (including me) request track time. There are also Thursday, Monday and Tuesday Test-n-Tunes on the schedule.
For those of you with lots of money and time, you could make this a 6 day race weekend! Assuming my suspension and tires are all set by Friday, I'm going to try to get in a full day of TnT on Friday to scrub in my tires and tune the suspension for this weekend's Double Time Trials... That's right, Saturday and Sunday will be scored as *seperate events*, thus bumping our TT season to 5 events instead of only 4! Remember, if you want to qualify for the NORPAC Time Trials Championship held at RFR in September, you need to complete 2 events, meaning you can qualify simply by running both days this weekend.

Well, pretty damn good day for Scott and I, Scott ended up 3rd overall, I came 4th overall. 1st place went to an Acura Integra ITA car driven by Donna Gilio, she was incredibly fast. Second place went to Art Majors in his Corvette. 1st and 2nd place were seperated by less than .1 seconds, and the same goes for Scott and I in 3rd and 4th.
We ran course F today which was awesome, as we finally got to try out that huge downhill sweeper. What a blast. Video to come later.

Oh, and a huge thanks to Steve M here on seccs, he came out to check out the event and worked all day. Talk about a true motorsports fan, his main motivation was getting different views of the racing lines.
Steve you're a cool guy, you don't know how much the club appreciated the help. Hope to see you in the track soon.
