Well, I think I am going to buy a set of springs in the near future, so I thought I would see if anybody has any old sets laying around the garage. Its a 2006 WRX Sedan, let me know what you have, even old STi takeoffs. Thanks...

Sounds good. Those seem to be the best bang for the buck option in terms of performance. Thanks

Sweet! What do you guys think? Decent upgrade for a stock WRX? Im, geared more toward performance increase rather than looks and I definitely cannot afford coilovers. Next upgrade will be sways.

A set of STi takeoffs is a terrific upgrade for a WRX, but keep in mind they have a reputation for blowing out the rear struts (gives you that awesome rear-clunking mod, sometimes even with pretty low mileage on the struts). Also, they won't lower the car at all... you'd have to get some STi pinks or other aftermarket springs to level out the wheel gap (though you said you're not concerned with that) on those struts.

Hey, Van....no its the diamond white and yeah, they are pretty rare around here, I've seen 2 others and they were a nighthawk black one and a taffetas white one they are both tl's and not the type S, interestingly.......I saw more of them in SLC this weekend than in Reno in the month that I've owned it. Cory, thanks for the call on Friday....it made my day.......since the "other" person had to be reminded!

http://www.harmanmotive.com/catalog/...oducts_id=1742 I realize those are the 04 springs, but they don't have a way to select WRX vs STi in the 05-07 category (and the STi spring rates are way to high). Those spring rates don't seem too terrible, around 236f and 220r. |

Thanx. I think that everybody chooses the GF210 04 version because the 05-07 version has way to stiff spring rate. The drop height is the same.

not that it matters or applies to you but I ended up getting gf210's for my gc, for the old school cars the only better are the p1's. With Tanabe springs you can become "parking lot champion" at work just like me

Thanx Paul, but I think that 2005 STi GF210's would annihilate my stock WRX struts. Unless they are the 4.3 front and 4.0 rear spring rate.

Thanks. So what do you guys think...Paul@DBTuned has a set of GF210 springs from an 05 STi (Tanabe has the same springs for 05-07 STi's and WRX's.) The breakdown on these is as follows
Spring Rates 5.8kg/mm Front / 4.4kg/mm Rear Lowers the car 1.0in Front / 0.5in Rear That seems like a really high spring rate for WRX struts...The other option would be to get the 2004 model's which are like this Spring Rates 4.3kg/mm Front / 4.0kg/mm Rear Lowers the car 1.3in Front / 1in Rear So, the question is do I get the 2004's and run them until the struts die naturally circa 60-80k or do I get the 2005 STi ones and blow my struts faster and replace them like I will probably have to in 30k or so anyway? The reasoning being that I will have the stiffer STi springs when I have to replace my struts. |

It's a shame that the lower rated 4.3/4.0 springs lower the car so much. Those look like the better rates, but I wouldn't want to lower more than 1"f/.5"r just because of the poor suspension geometry and reduced tire clearance you get.

Um... get them to make WRX rated springs at STi lowering heights?
![]() ...but seriously, I guess I'd rather have the springs match the struts better, even if the car's too low. Being underdamped and bouncing all over the place sucks ass. Best solution is really to get the stiffer, taller STi springs and a set of KYB AGX's that you can dial in to match the spring rate. But now you're talking near coilover dollars, in which case just get some Tein Flex's.

I see the logic, but since when do Flex's cost under $1600
