If I had been in the market for a new car in '04 let's say, then I would have ended up with a rex, because I couldn't afford an STI, and wouldn't have bought an RS looking like that!
That essentially proves my point right?

That's $5k more than I paid for mine brand new, haha.

I work on the side for an Architect thats in the building just up the parking lot from were your car is always parked. You used to have a silver WRX, then all of a sudden your Blue STI showed up. I seen some dude and a chick standing outside that office smoking one time. Was that you?

Anyway, I drive a Silver 05 STi.

As for the Airport up there, there is a sign at the parking lot that strictly prohibits unlawfull vehicle access. If I remember correctly, there is a code listed. Also, remember that airport is in Killafornia. So God only knows what they can and will do to you for messing around on their pretty much private airport. And yes, they still use it. I think a federal agency has juridiction over it. (FAA?)

i dunno, there are 2 ways to look at it.
1) you made a 32K investment and its your precious, nothing bad must happen to it, keep it garaged, with a car cover and don't drive it in any adverse conditions (snow ,dirt, RAIN) . the org owner of my car was that way . no rain driving...
2) you just spent 32K you better get every last pennies worth of enjoyment, drive it fast and hard, drive it on snow, dirt, wet tarmac, Enjoy the worlds best AWD system in actual low traction envoirnments.

some peeps are #1, some are #2. some are a blend. sounds like you are a #1 nothing wrong with that. to each his own. if all i was worried about was the $$$ i would have bought like 10K of gold 3 months ago (which would be 12,500 today) and kept my wrx. but i'de rather spend that cash on enjoyment, which means driving on snow / dirt / wet tarmac, and as fast as is safe to me and to others. ( you may not be able to guess this about me, but i just bare ever ever ever go over 25 in a residential. kids and peeps walking about) get into a much safer setting and i'll go faster.

or maybe you are basically saying i can't control my car , at least you speak your mind. freedom of speach baby ! but yer dead wrong lol but stay true to yourself and your opions sometimes i like being told i can't
lol what a long rant of mine.. i'm waiting on buddies to go snowboarding with. they don't have an sti and need like 40 minutes to cover 4 miles in the snow ARG
I'm not saying I wouldn't get my money's worth, just that I'd be much more concerned about heading out to relatively uncontrolled areas looking for trouble. The cost of replacing body paneling and pricey BBS rims can add up fast.

I bought my car (02 RS) December of 2002, and only paid $15K with 12,000 miles on it. $24K for an 01 is ridiculous no matter what.

Well, you park a nearly new, excellent condition GC body next to a new GD body, then tell the world "the turbo Impreza is finally out" and you see what the general public thinks.

Remember, no on knew anything about Imprezas back then. Also, the sticker on the WRX I bought was $29.5k after the dealer markup. An '01 w/ a $24k sticker seems cheap.

What are you talking about no one knew anything about Imprezas back then? It was only 5 years ago that the bugeyes came out, and I have had my car since before then so...

Um, weren't there a whopping 4000 2.5RS's sold in '01? Yeah, I'd say not many people knew about them.

In fact, I bet 90% of people know what they are today only because of the WRX.

Very true. I remember causing whiplash driving past parking lots and gas stations when my RS was new, and that was in the 4st model year. Then I had two different insurance adjustors try to tell me that my aftermarket hood and bumper wouldn't be covered. The second time was last August. I miss the complete lack of recognition of the RS by the general public. Even people who were somewhat in the know thought it was an imported WRX.

It's just the blanket statement of "Remember, no one knew anything about Imprezas back then." But that only bothers me because everything I read on the internet is true.

and Crap that is california. Aha they have like the same law

Every person who drives a vehicle upon a street or highway in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of a violation of California Vehicle Code §23103 (a), a misdemeanor. Willful or wanton disregard means an intentional or conscious disregard for the safety of persons or property.

In order to prove this crime, each of the following elements must be proved:

1. A person drove a vehicle upon a street or highway
2. At the time, the driver did so with an intentional or conscious disregard for the safety of persons or property.

tresspassing is like a $90 fine. i will pay the $90 to drive in a safe setting such 3/4 of a mile of tarmac with no other cars, or private property to damage. (maybe somehow you could damage the actual tarmac itself ?)
if its an airport its not a street or a highway , its a privately owned plot of tarmac.
i dunno , we all die right? did something change? no? okay , think i'll have a little fun before i kick it . guess i could try and contact the owners and see if they are okay with me driving there, maybe offer them $20 a visit. (then it's all legal and what not)

anyone have their contact info ?

That's good old Scott "blanket statement" Perry. Don't worry he does that all the time, then gets incensed when someone calls him on it. I just try to remember that back when I bought my RS, he thought his american boat was a performance car.

Just save your $90 fine and do some test and tune days at RFR(Fernley).

That might be missing the point of this thread though.

I guess 0.1s makes the difference between a "performance car" and a "non-performance car". What's it like driving the absolutely slowest "performance car" possible JC?

Maybe there is something more to being a performance car than 0-60? Naw couldn't be. I would not consider my wagon a "performance car."

Yeah, I went for a cruise to see how long it was. Whats funny is that there is a hiking trail on the other side of the runway. HUMM.

I might make it down to the meeting tonight. (3-02-06) So, if you are there. I will be the only one with red hair.
