Default Hit a BIG rock in the road!!!

Well, for the time being, I am Subaru-less. My car is in the body shop, as I hit a rock the size of a basket ball in the middle of the road! Front bumper got busted, dented the floor under the passenger seat, and the gas tank holds less gas now (that's okay, I'll be lighter now!). The problem is, the rock caused my rear end to get loose, as I was about 45-50 mph in a corner, and pitched me off the side of the road into a small tree! Busted rear bumper, tail light, and dented in the quarter panel! The quarter panel is being fixed as we speak, (thank you slicknick for letting me borrow your stock tail light while I wait for my new JDM to show up in the mail) and I will likely end up getting a body kit, as that'll save me about 500 dollars over replacing the bumpers with new stock pieces. (don't worry, I'm not going rice. It'll basically be a stock looking front, with a lip, smooth sides instead of the unpainted stock ones, and a smoother rear bumper without the separate spats on the bottom.) Also, when I went over the curb backwards, the r.r. strut got bent a little, so no better time than now to get my TEIN ss coilover kit!! Ha Ha!! I didn't get any pics of the damage, but I'll try to post some of the makeover in progress, and completed!

oh, yeah. no harm done. I was by myself. and the accident altogether wasn't that bad. just screwed the car up some. I've been thinking of kitting my car for a while anyway, so now I have an excuse! nKoan, i do really appreciate the offer though!

For the price, I'm not even gonna go through my insurance. I'd pay just shy of what I am for the damage to the quarter panel to be fixed, and then out my ass for the premium increase! I'm just going to kit the car, and replace my bent strut with a complete Tein coilover setup, so to hell with letting my insurance company screw me! Ha Ha!

It's all in how the claim is filed. If the rock happened to roll out into your way so that you couldn't avoid it, I believe it's a comprehensive claim, and shouldn't effect your rates.

Yeah, if you can get a comprehensive claim written, it won't hurt you. But if you only had one at-fault accident on your next renewal, it still shouldn't cost you more than all your repairs will.

gotta take the good with the bad scotty! I once heard a wise man say: "I don't plan modifications, I just break stuff and upgrade!" It's kinda crappy, but I've always been an "oh well" kinda guy. Can't be undone, so just move on! Ha Ha!

I'm just glad to know you didn't get hurt yourself. Cars can be fixed or replaced; but people's bodies can be painful to heal, and sometimes impossible to do so.

Scott's right in every way. If the rock hit you, its comprehensive. Rates will not be effected.

Well, the sheet metal damage around the tail light area is all fixed now. I'll have the car back, as soon as Lithia gets off their duff and gets the little trim piece that goes under the light. That got all banged up as well, so the body shop had to order a new one.
My new JDM tails will be in tomorrow (friday) according to my UPS tracking number. Then I can give Nick his back!

Just a simple update!

Well, the rock was just kinda sitting there, in the middle of the inside of a blind corner. Technically, I hit it! Ha Ha!
Honestly, I appreciate the concern from everyone, but it's not a big deal. I'll have it all taken care of, and it won't break me, so no biggie.

Thanks again though!

Aahhh. . . much better. Got my car back today. Big thanks to Cindy and Greg at Cito Auto body for taking such good care of me! I highly recommend them! All the sheet metal damage is repaired, and honestly, it looks like it never happened!

Now time for Teins and body kit. . .

gonna do the coil-overs first. the body kit, as affore mentioned, will basically be stock-ish, with a front lip, smooth side skirts, and a rear bumper with a lower integral lip, instead of the "spats". Also saving a decent chunk of change over replacing the bumper skins with factory pieces. Subaru is really proud of their factory stuff! $$$$$

Okay, that hurt just a little bit. I just ordered a complete TEIN "flex" coil-over kit. Pillowball upper mounts, adjustable camber, EDFC compatible, the whole shit! Not cheap. I'm not getting the EDFC quite yet, it's just another $400 that I don't feel like spending right now. It can be added later if I feel the need though. I still have a set of Team Dynamics that I plan to have powdercoated, (I'm a lazy bastard) and that's gonna be 400 bucks itself. Better spent I think.

Anyway, just an update for anyone who may have been keeping track.

$400 sounds expensive for powder-coating, doesn't someone have a hookup on here for like $60 or $70 per wheel?
