I think I've heard enough bad that I wouldn't go for one. . .

. . .you know, if it mattered to my car.

BOOM!

A MBC on an otherwise stock car is a terrible idea. You *will* damage the motor, because you *will* run lean.

If you get custom tuned though, apparently they are the way to go. Ask Cody and Scott, they both have them.

Do it right. Run the boost you're tuned for.

Scott got an MBC?

Next you'll all be running Crucial parts and going to Ed to get tuned.

Wasn't this joke made like 6 months ago? I thought I even made it myself shortly after it was on the car.

And frankly, I still don't like the MBC, but MikeW put it on the car. Something about not having enough time to properly tune for 22+ lbs of boost in the Hydra in time to get the car to the track in time for the season. The stock EBC wasn't cutting it, at least not without hours of tuning, so it was to the simpler MBC solution.

So, the situation's quite a bit different than a MBC on an untuned car, or even on a car with a reflash. And even still, with the MBC I was seeing 2 lbs of overboost (though on a MAP based car, that's not quite the big deal it is on a MAF based tune). Also, my motor did in fact blow up with the MBC on it, though I don't blame the spun rod on the MBC.

I'm actually planning on going with the GM solenoid when the motor gets retuned.

Aw, I was only joshin'. The GM solenoid is a great way to go. FWIW, I'm still running the Hallman and lovin' it.

That's what's on my car, and I'm less than impressed. Under long pulls, the car hit and stays at the target 22psi of boost, but my tell-tale on the gauge shows 24 psi peak. Which must occur mid corner at partial throttle or some other transitional period when I'm too busy driving to watch the gauge.

I'd still rather have a computer regulating the boost than a spring, but a spring is way easier to "tune".

It can fluxtuate a touch, but my logs usually show a nice smooth boost curve.

EQ tuning recommended the Hallman to tune Imprezif's car. I know absolutely nothing about tuning or an MBC so I just took his experienced word for it.

Could you get your in-car cam pointed at it?

The camera already points at the gauge, but 'cause it's a BF Defi, you can't see it on camera.

I keep thinking to swap out the BF dials for something easier to see, but it would just be expensive unless I can find someone w/ the non-BF gauges that just wants to trade with me.

Since I've got a RackPak telemetry setup, it would be sweet to get the gauges for it that get datalogged along with the GPS data... but if you think the Defi's are expensive, the RacePak setup is astronomical! It'd be like $2000 to replace the gauges I've already got.
