Car: 1997 Subaru Impreza L Class: n/a This is going to take crackerjack timing... | Does anybody know where....?

...to get rims straightened around Reno or in Sac? I dented one of my Tenzo's on my GC (hit a stupid rock in the road last fall) and would rather not have to pay $180 to replace it. Any ideas would be appreciated...thanks

You probably can't get it done for much less than that. I'd just start paying on a replacement wheel if it were me.

I kind of suspected that would be the case, but I figured I'd ask before I went and bought a replacement. The rim actually isn't that bad....the tire took most of it but the rim is pushed in about 1/8 in. (no cracks sharp creases). It's actually not bad considering the rock was the size of a thick paperback novel.

From a functional not cosmetic perspective, sometimes the lip gets hit without the bead seat being affected. You can sort of check it by spinning the wheel with a very steady pointer to the first turn in the lip/wheel. If you get the tire pulled, they should be able to do the same thing on the actual seating surface. You will have to do that anyway to get it repaired. There are a bunch of places out there that do it for about $100. Shop around and look for opinions.

http://www.fixrim.com/ is open all the time and has a 24hr turn around time with a price of $130 a wheel unless its chrome. Like you said, you're not going to save much over just buying another wheel. Usually the wheel repair places are for wheels that cost $200+ like if you have nice dubs.

Well it looks like the rock hit (or I hit the rock, whichever sounds better) about 1 inch inboard from the outside lip so it bent the rim in just enough to see it and throw the balance off a bit. The lip and bead seat appera to be undamaged. Any ideas for a local shop that might be able to fix it?

Just checking, are these wheels cast? Anything else can't really be repaired AFAIK.

Not sure how they were made...Tenzo-R DC-5's. One website I found says they are cast, but no info from the actual manufacturer.

Are they light? If not, they're cast. I don't think Tenzo even makes forged wheels anyway, at least not under that brand alias.

They are fairly lightweight, but not along the lines of forged rims...probably in the neighborhood of 18 lbs for a 17x7 (thats just a guess, though)

A couple years ago I tried looking for a place in the area that could fix wheels, and wasn't able to find one. . . I dunno about now, though.
