Car: 1997 Subaru Impreza L Class: n/a This is going to take crackerjack timing... | WTB: 2.2 or 2.5 engine n/a

Ok, gonna try again...last time I posted looking for a 97-98 2.5 motor, but nothing came up. Now I'm reposting but also adding that I can work with a 2.2 as long as the mileage isn't too bad...just trying to keep my car on the road until i can find a good engine. Thanks...

Pretty soon I'll be pulling the 2.2 out of my wagon for a 2.5 I'm building. It's from a 2001 OBS, has roughly 130k on it. Still runs well.

thanks, but i think that going to a 1.8 would be a downgrade for me...this is going into a 97 Impreza. if it got so bad that I'd have to go to a 1.8, I'll just drive my El Camino |

It would be a downgrade, and that 2.2 is a Phase II *Drools* omfg I'de love to use that + an awd swap and race CRS-PGT next year. it has its peak torque at 3600 RPMS!! might hold up versus a 2.5 better than the peak numbers would indicate as the 2.5 has its peak torque at 4k. also the torque curve of a 2.2 is rather flat. lucky sob! Kevin what's the chassis you have at your Dads a wagon or seden, and can it be registered? |

It's a wagon, and I don't know, because I never got the title from the guy who sold it to me.

You mean you "never got the title from the guy who took your money without actually selling you the car"?

I didn't worry about it much at the time because it was just a parts car.

Ah ... just wondering, I actually had someone offer to build a cage for me for free at this past rally , they specifically wanted to cage up my STI, But i'm not ready to go that route yet (Though i'de love to someday)

Car: 1997 Subaru Impreza L Class: n/a This is going to take crackerjack timing... | WTB: 2.2 or 2.5 engine

Old post expired so here's a new one...I need a 2.2 or 2.5 engine from 97-98 only as a replacement in my 97 Impreza. Complete engine would be nice, but a long block would work just as well. Must be in good shape mechanically (no rod knock, etc.) Higher mileage ok as long as it isn't astronomical (like mine is).

Just an update...I just picked up a (hopefully) lower mileage EJ25D from a wrecked 97 Legacy, so I no longer need another engine...thanks
