Car: 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. 5.7l Class: None :/ Cory, just put a 4g63 in it. | Trouble Finding Tires

Hey guys its been a while. So the tires on my car definitely are not going to be sufficient this winter. They are low on tread and I have to commute from the lake to Reno twice a week. I have been trying to find a set of replacements by discount tire and tire rack don't have any of the sizes I have looked for. The stock size is 165/80r13 I couldn't stop laughing when I read it either. So I have two options replacement in the stock size on the stock steelies OR I have a set of American Racing Estrella 16x7 et 48(IIRC on the offset) that would at least look a little better that I would like to use. However looking for tires for those wheels and my car hasn't been successful either. The size for those that I have been looking for was a 185/50r16... So the real question(s) is: A) Where can I find tires for a decent price? I don't need top of the line as I am on a college budget AND B) Are 185 widths even wide enough for a 7 inch wheel or am I just dreaming? Because I highly doubt i could stuff anything wider than that under there...

Just put a 205/55/16 on the 16x7's, you should be fine.

Better yet, buy my 225/45/17's, get some Rotas, and just pound out the fenders 'till they fit.

Id love to help you out Scott, but that plan doesnt go along with the 'college budget' aspect of the plan. Tire Rack has a set of Kumho Ecsta ASXs for 272 a set. I just don't wanna end up buying them and having them be way too wide to jam under there.

Making 205/55s fit under a '93 is trivial. I bet you wouldn't even have to bend the lip in the rear, just pull the liner off. Also try 205/50, it's shorter and a common size.

I gently massaged my fenders to fit 225's although I don't need it. Stock ride height 205's have plenty of room.

I was going to suggest cheap snows on the 13" steelies and save up for some decent 3+ season tires on the 17s, but can't find anything for the 13s. Go look at Cody's thread on All seasons that can handle snow well. 205/45-16 is probably the closest speedometer wise you can find. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...er=16&x=17&y=9 195/50-16 would probably fit better width wise, but are less popular and thus more expensive. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...er=16&x=13&y=7

I made 215s rub on my '01 RS, but it took very, very little work to make 225s clear at all ride heights, and the bodywork is the same from '93-'01.
