Default What does SECCS think of AMSoil?

The debate was kindled on i-Club yet again today. Why can't they just say "our stuff is good, buy it" instead of constantly bashing on everybody else? And what is so wrong about putting the stuff in retail stores instead of sending their little "independent distributor" minions running all over the place?

Yeah, I'm sure the stuff works great, but I just can't stand their marketing practices. Their "distributors" simply have no clue what business ethics are.

If it was the best thin since sliced bread, racers would use it, sponsor or no. Look at Redline. It is in a huge number of race cars, but very few are sponsored by them. Same with Mobil one. I don't recall any serious racers having mentioned using it, but perhaps I am mistaken.

Matt, don't they have roots in the trucking world?

I don't know, We sure don;t use it. We use Chevron Delo products.

Amsoil is very popular in off-road racing, why? I'm not sure.

This is a succesfull marketing strategy for a number of campanies including some biggies like SnapOn, and Mac tools, Schwans, countless uniform/laundry companies, Avon, tupperware, etc...

Just like SPAM, they will keep doing it as long as it works and is profitable.

I guess the difference is I don't run across internet saboteurs for Schwann's and Avon like I do with AMSoil. Too many of them are kinda shady about not being upfront that they are directly connected to amsoil when they start talking about oils.

AMSoil claims that numerous race teams run their products depsite contrary sponsorship... but of course, because of those sponsorships, they can't reveal who they are...

What really bugs me about that thread is the accusation that Mobil 1 is going to a blend... IF that is true, I'd like to hear it for certain because I'd switch to Redline in spite of the extra $3/qt cost.

I'm really interested to know more about this deal too. Does Mobil 1 have a consumer hotline or anything? I which I still had some contacts in the Gas Chromatography industry, they'd know.
