Well, I didn't get it...

We exchanged emails while I was in Memphis, but nothing I could do from there...

He already had a solid deal setup by Sat. when I called him, and they had until last night to come through with the money, and damn it, they did...

I had it figured out where unloading the Stealth, and selling some of the spares I would end up only 5K or so out of pocket...

Crap....

Oh well... Now I don't have to find a source for 116 octane...

Good question... sure a lot of the interior's been removed, but an extensive cage has been installed... I'd guess it's not much lighter than the stock 3100, if not more. Plus, that car's still got only a stock turbo so the engine can't really make more than about 300hp (assuming the intake restrictor's been removed, othewise significantly less). That's about what Dean's making as it is... give ore take 20hp, which isn't going to make a huge difference in AutoX which is far more about handling than power.

I still think that Gary's car vs. Dean's car, in AutoX, would be a wash... but that DM PAX factor is a killer.

Now, put Gary's car on a track, and watch Dean's car get eaten up in a hurry.

And after Dean installed a shortblock and larger turbo on the car? It's not like he'd have to run a stock motor with bolt-ons in Modified. But it's all hypothetical now anyway...

That's what we were just talking about... Dean's little red subaru is already as fast as Gary's car in Solo2. He wouldn't have been able to get TTOD, he'd run the same speed as his STX car but would have done it under DM's pax! :shock:

Now, if Dean, as Kevin mentioned, did a large displacement swap and turbo, I/C, etc... he might have a shot, but he could do that to the red car... there's nothing special about Gary's car as far as AutoX. Now, if we're talking about tracking the car... that's when all of Gary's work comes into play: the brakes, bearings, suspension, swaybars, tires, aero, rollcage, etc. are all huge improvements over the red suby.

It was about getting a fully preped and proven car to track/hill climb/possibly race car with roll cage, setup data, spares for it, and the red car, extras to sell, motivation to get the Stealth out of the driveway and the hauler fixed, all for about 5K out of pocket... Oh, and it would be really cool...

If I hadn't been in Memphis, it would probably be in the driveway pissing off my next door neighbor.
