Sigh. At least you didn't call Vishnu and ask them those questions...

First, there are no "chips" for Subarus anymore... they are no more useful than carbeurater jets these days. Your engine management choices, without going to a standalone system, are basically EcuTek reflash, Cobb AccessPort, and the Utec. Of these, I would recommend the EcuTek reflash for varying reasons I've listed elsewhere here and on i-club.com.

Second, no superchargers for your car- it has a turbo already. If you want low 11s at sea level, you'd better not plan on driving it around up here, because a turbo that big will have more lag than Matt when he gets back from New Zealand.

Third, the factory clutch is fine for everything but repeated hard drag launches. If you want to do that, we can help you choose a clutch based on your overall needs for the car.

This thread on i-club gives you a good idea of the first basic mods you should do to your STi. It will be faster, get better milage, handle better, and do nothing worse than stock using what's listed in that thread.

Now, the best thing to do before spending a single dollar on performance mods (do whatcha wanna do as far as looks) is decide what the car will need to be able to do. Do you want to autocross? Open track? Drag race? Just a fun daily driver? Tell us what your plans are, and we can give a lots of good solid tech advice that will make sure you don't waste money on inneffective, unnecessary, or detrimental mods. Hopefully, you'll plan on making it out to some autocrosses with us next season (that is the primary purpose of our organization after all) in which case you'll need to decide what class to join, and what mods that you're allowed will develop from there.

You planning on turbo and supercharging the car? Thats certainly a project.

I would recommend a ECU reflash, a bigger turbo rather then a 'chip' and a vortec supercharger. Its a more proven technology, and I bet you could get into the 11s with enough tuning.

Dude...are you trying to be an ass? Or is it just a slow day for you. Generally, the bigger the turbo to greater the lag.
Socks are for your feet and occasionally for clean up. Save them for such things. Do not use a sock as a make shift device to create a cool sound. Swooosh is for nike and RICE. You should spent more time researching and less time causing rucus. Silly boy.

shakes his head...

First of all, more power = more problems.
Bigger turbo requires a ton of stuff!
- bigger injectors
- ecu
- exhaust
- Tuneing!
- the list could go on and on..

If you're planning to run higher than 22psi on your STi, you'd better plan on head work too! hahaha.

Anyhow, you dont really need that big of a turbo to run 11's... If you wanna run 11's that badly.. i have two suggestions.
1) UTEC, FMIC, GT30R turbo, injectors, fuel rails, maybe a piston ring kit? (not too sure about that one), clutch and flywheel, and a shit load of dyno time!

OR
2)
----sell STi--->buy evo ---> new 720cc injectors, fuel pump, fuel rail, boost controller, cam gears, 272/272 cams, TBE, perrin FMIC, UTEC, and a garrett GT30R turbo! --->10k and one clutch drop later ---> new clutch ---> 12-14k later ---> 11's

dude this really cracked me up

The advice we've just given you comes from many Subaru specific tuners. Not that your buddy doesn't know his shit when it comes to Supra's, but a vortec and a 'chip' is just plain nonsense for a STi.

Poovey (sp?) said that!? He did the clutch upgrade on my 2g talon. He would know better than to give advice that bad. You either misunderstood him or he was joking. He used to have a white STi but I heard it was totalled.

I think by "chip" he ment "ecu reflash".

STiguy- Listen to these guys, they know what they are talking about.

A big turbo will have too much lag. You need a small turbo like this:

I really hope you misunderstood what they guy from P2 Motorsports said... especially considering the motto on their web site...

I had to laugh if they really told you what you wrote.
