Default Petition...

This is a Petition to the higher fruitballs on the board for creation of another discussion forum.

Part Review/Vendor Review.

It seems I read reviews from alot of different places and post a few reviews here and there. I would gladly post all my reviews on every vendor I have ever delt with. As well as Im sure a few others would do. It seems the most common question Im asking people in person at meets and whatnot is "hey what do you think about these guys?"

I think it would be nice to have a compendium of all our experiences, for the whole to draw upon. There are a number of lurking members and people who simply cannot make the meets. It would be nice for them to have us a resource if they so need.

The point being is that I trust the people I can touch and talk to in person much more than some made up name over the internet.

I don't think it would/could hurt to have something like this, I evne kinda tryed to do this before, with liks to vendors on the web and that sort of thing. I hope you have better luck than I did Phil.

I though of that a while back, but figured since this is a local board, and there are only so many local shops/vendors, we wouldn't have much to post. I also assumed, if you're shopping on the internet, you'd check the reviews on larger sites like NASIOC and I-Club, and post here w/ a specific question if necessary.

However, if this is something people think would be useful and wouldn't just end up as a dead forum, I've got no problem adding it!

/me waits for the results of the poll.

yeah i wouldnt want it to be dead either, however. I dont think any of us shop locally for most of our parts. I see it like this.

Im interested in street tuner. I read around 100 threads pertaining to this item on many different forums. Say those 100 threads ALL say that street tuner is horrible, sucks ass blah blah blah. So im leaning towards not getting it. Then I speak to one of you, (a fellow member of seccs) I give your single opinion 100x the ammount of credit that I gained from reading all the BS. Especially in regards to vendors. Point being I think most of us trust the local people more than a million strangers online.

I have to agree with that. An opinion is worth very little unless you know who it is coming from. I've heard a lot of bad opinions, and a lot of good. What I believe mainly depends on what others I trust believe.

yeah either way its just a thought, i dont know how easily changable the forums are. I also dont want scott to think that these forums are less than perfect. im grateful that i can speak without being rediculed as most are in so many "other" forums.

Yes, I'll fix it for you. Again.

It's a good idea, as long as it is kept clean. Clear objective reviews organized into one place are always helpful.

However, that sort of thing always takes time.

True, If the current moderators feel a little whelmed. (I know you can be overwhelmed and you can be underwhelmed but can you just be plain whelmed?). I would volunteer to help moderate it. I dont think that would be needed though. I dont feel it being something that could get out of control. Pure facts and nothing else is purdy easy.

I think it's probably a good idea, as long as the regulars contribute...as Phil said, I often times just call Scott, or Eric or Aaron and say..."Who should I talk to about..." I prefer local opinions...So, I say yes on the forum...

Stupid question... Can we sticky a post for each vendor, and have the Moderator Add approriate comments to the master post for each vendor?

That probably won't be necessary... if you've got a review or a question about a vendor, start a thread with their name in the title, and let the discussion begin! Threads not pertaining to a vendor we'll just move elsewhere... like the regular Suby Chat, where threads like that are already posted.

I'm on board w/ the vendor review forum... I'll set it up!

And I provide a completely unbiased opionion like "Take it to our shop"

But seriously, more information, and more discussion, is always a good thing.

Don't make us list recent, well, lets just call them oversights on your shop's part...Tyson almost had to run the last event in reverse...

Actually, that's exactly the stuff that *should* be in the reviews! Of course S-Squared's had some boners... talking about it should hopefully prevent them in the future. As it is, the number of satisfied people will greatly out-weigh the people with issues.

The last thing I want that forum to become is the S-Squared fan-boi forum where everyone sucks the S^2 D, and knocks everyone else. We should call 'em like we see 'em, or that forum will be useless.

I agree. I was just funning with Aaron... He started it...

Tyson needs to post those comments though, not me.

The way I see shit like that is, EVERYONE makes mistakes, EVERYONE. If your poop dont stink take another wiff. Its how a company handles these mistakes is what makes them truly shine.

Exactly. I wasn't trying to start anything, I was making fun of my own bias.

I'm the last person who's going to deny that we've had problems, but I'd like to think we made things right.

Anyways, onward to the vendor reviews, I think it's a good idea, and encourages discussion.

I don't think it could hurt. What's the worse that could happen, nobody posts?

Anyway, I think it's a good idea.
