Cobb tested the hell out of that intake on the LGT and STi. Neither is exactly a WRX but it is interesting reading: LGT STi It has been a while since I read them, but their conclusion is that it is a waste of time on the LGT, and a very minor improvement on the STi. I think they decided that it fared better on the STi because it has a bigger turbo, so the stock intake was a slight restriction. Based on this I would estimate that on a WRX it should be considered a cosmetic mod, not a performance mod. |

More Power? Aren't you still on the stock exhaust? If so, that's your restriction.

Upipe, exhaust and reflash are the cheap power for a WRX. From there it starts getting expensive fast! If you are really desperate for more power a used STi might work out cheaper in the long run. Otherwise, the next logical step would be fuel pump/injectors/turbo/STi intercooler/reflash. (Followed closely by an RA gearset for your tranny). |

I know next to nothing about the turbocharged Impreza motors, but from what I've read, intake involves some hassle with tuning, and if the SPT intake claims it won't void your warranty but has no disclaimers regarding needing a tune after installing, then it probably won't really do anything for you. That's just my take on it. Of course, if you were NA, then I'd be saying different. . . after driving Cory's RS and having seen the night and day difference even my own car gets in power just while driving at different times of day (cooler, denser air in the wee hours of the morning = more power), I'm all for intake mods on NA engines. Anyway, more exhaust bits seem to be the way to go, and you could always just go with a snorkel delete.
