Default This is why it's dumb to track with no corner workers

Check out this video and thread on Nasioc. Basically, a perfect illustration of what can go wrong when there are no competant workers, or even no workers at all. A collant slick on the track entering a turn almost wipes out some nice cars. Good drivers make it a close call instead of a disaster.

Yes this is at a track day.

There was one corner worker. He was like 4 or 5 corners before the toilet bowl. But yah, scary.

Lucky MFers... bet there was some shorts that needed cleaning...

I agree this is one of the many reasons for skilled corner workers.

Observation question... How soon did you see the car in the outside wall?

Granted I knew something was coming, but did not expect to see a cloud, and a car in the wall as soon as he crested the hill. (I couldn't tell it was a car at that point, but knew it was something.)

-10 points = "What car in the outside wall"
0 points = When I just watched again after reading the question.
1 point = as the car starts spinning
2 points = After the left side rumble strip disappeared, but before the car starts spinning.
3-9 points = somewher along the rumble strip.
10 ponts = before the beginning of the rumble strip. And you are probably a lying bastard! I scored about a 7 the first time through.

Oh, and all those that think it was good driving on Nasioc.. HA!

He says himself he saw the cloud way early, but didn't slow enough...

And you can't "counter steer" with your wheels locked up. You are at the mercy of physics for the most part. Only once he let off the brakes was there any level of control.

I saw the parked car as soon as he crested, but I was already purposly looking because I read in the thread about the "smoke".

On loose surfaces, you certainly can countersteer w/ locked up tires. They act like rudders... so it's not exactly effective... but it's better than nothing. Plus once the car starts rolling, the wheels are pointed in the right direction.

But I'm laughing at the guy that said once you're out of control to just let off the wheel so you don't break a wrist.

He was so close to that tire wall, though - if he hadn't hit the brakes his wheels might have still been spinning enough to drag him forward a bit more, right into the wall. I was scoffing at his description in the thread before I watched the video, thinking that he'd gone off still facing the track. "Pffft. Why'd he hit the brakes like that?" But there doesn't seem to have been much else to do.

But yeah, he should have just slowed down more.
