FS: Mostly new RE070's
I have a set of RE070's for sale. I don't yet have them in my posession, they are in Sac.
These are the tires I was planning on running in auto-x this year, but it looks like the rules won't allow it (except for on STi's). So, if anyone wants them, they still have a decent amount of tread left. I don't have the pictures to prove it yet, but they are good. I paid $250 for them, so thats how much I'm asking. 225/45/17 for anyone who doesn't already know.

dibs.
I gotta figure out if the 255/40/17 RT-615's are worth the extra $350... but chances are, they aren't.

The Hankooks are only about 106 each in 225/45-17, and $212 in 235/40-17 shipped from Discount Tire. Might be a good option if strapped for cash...
Edge Racing still has the 225/45-17 R215s for $112 each + $70 something for shipping. DT charges tac, Edge doesn't... It's a toss up. Hankooks appear to last longer and are at least OK in the wet.

Basically I just want to play on the RE070's with my car just to get a feeling for 'em, since I've only ever driven 070's on MikeK's car. Plus by trading w/ Nick, we get him a set of legal tires for the season so he doesn't have to buy a new set.

Right. With the Hankooks, I can stay in TESP, but with the 070's, I'd be limited to TSM, STU (or SM or whatever P or M class I am eligible for).

I think you're right. In addition to the 13.3.F exemption, the first line of 13.3 is "Any tire which is OE on a Stock-class eligible vehicle is permitted." It doesn't say it has to be on the same car- so shouldn't a Legacy GT be able to run RE070s?

I'm not saying that that's what the SCCA is intending, I'm just saying that as written it's not 100% clear. Taken without context however, I would lean to the statement meaning that OE tires on any stock eligible car become legal for any other stock eligble car, and expect that if, say Dodge starts putting racing slicks on the PT Cruiser ( ) the tire would end up on the exclusion list.
