I didn't like where they went with that Talon. All power from Nos, it broke its damn axle. Typical half-ass tuning work, that car has so much more potential. Maybe their time constraints led to that, but???

As far as the Honda went, it seemed to be a lot more mechanically sound, that chick just couldn;t drive it yet.

Either way, big deal on the 9 second 1/8th mile runs. Those cars were both running nos and that was the best they could do??? Weak.

Ok that show really sucked, don't bother...

Turns out that chic ran a 12.4 in that car on the 1/4 mile, now that's more like it...however it blew up shortly after.

Drag racing is for people that can't drive and can't tune. You can build a 10 second car for about $5-6k, but good luck building a champion autocrosser for that, outside of the lower stock classes.

Disclaimer: I will be at Sac Raceway once again this Wednesday (second time ever) because I've suddenly discovered that my RS may just be capable of running 14s. I'd like to pull that off before I do the swap (and suddenly get into the 12s on a bad day ).

Bad driving by women isn't genetic. It's like when people say "you throw like a girl." What they mean is "you throw like someone who doesn't know how to throw." You looked like that the first time you picked up a baseball or football too, but then someone taught you. Same with driving. Women who have spent zero time attempting to learn how to drive (beyond the skills needed to simply make the car go, stop, and turn) suck just like they suck at throwing- unless they are taught. Don't blame the gender, blame the fact that nobody bothered to teach her.

Either a) they have no interest in learning, so teaching them won't do squat, or b) you need to send 'em to Skip Barber.

So teach em something different. I taught my sister how to throw a frisbee, and she can now launch one better than any girl I've ever seen... better than most guys I've seen, even. (Keep in mind I haven't attended my first freestyle frisbee meet; I'm sure that will change then ).

Scott nailed it - they have no interest in learning. Women don't have some innate deficiency that keeps them from learning how to drive a vehicle well, it's just that a majority of them don't care enough about it to learn. There's a shitload of men out there that are piss-poor drivers too. I've read that there is research showing that females are actually innately better than males at jobs requiring fast response, intense concentration, and a high degree of situational awareness; i.e. fighter pilots and race car drivers.

Plus they have bewbies. Women are cool, even though they're PCE.

I knew I was hanging with some enlightened men in here.

Motivation/desire, followed by seat time, and good teachers is how I've been helped. Some measure of competitive spirit is also needed to go with the first & second items. What I don't have as much as many men I've driven with, and what I believe is rarer in women than men, is the amount of nerve it takes to push a car hard or through risky situations - i.e. race car drivers. I chalk it up to chemical variation, testosterone.

Not really. I've never been on a real course. Never tried to throw driver discs, either. I've just been fascinated by discs since I was a little kid, and I "figured out" and perfected the sidearm and thumber throws just messing around with the discs. I learned later from a book what the names were and how to throw an overhand. I've always wanted to hang out with some freestyle jammers... been keeping my eyes on a list with a bunch of Santa Cruz members.

Anwyway... enough about my disc fascination.
