You need about $5k to get everything overnighted from Japan. We'll put it all on sperry's account at Harry's...

okay, seriously, it depends. Assuming you want no DCCD to make the install simpler and the gearbox cheaper, you just need the box, driveshaft, linkage and shifter, slave cylinder, clutch and flywheel, and one of two rear diff options. You can either just swap the ring and pinion from your diff (which is cheaper, but more fragile) or do it the "right" way and get the whole R180, rear halfshafts, and rear hubs. That will also require you to switch to 2 pots, either the STi or Brembo versions. There are also some issues with installation that need to be dealt with, but nothing major.

And if you want the DCCD? Just add the DCCD tranny, and some sort of control box to plug the two switches into? It doesn't require an STi ECU or gauge cluster, right?

No, but the gauge helps if you have a GD (no gauges with DCCD lights made for GC) and you'll need the center console with the switches for the diff. ECU is not required, but the DCCD units have to be wired into some things like the ABS speed sensors and some other inputs.

I'm pretty sure the GC RA was available with DCCD.

But was there a display for it in the instrument cluster? At least with my car, I could drop the $500 (or whatever is costs these days) at the dealer and order a US STi cluster w/ the cool red lights and DCCD display... not to mention MPH instead of KPH.

Speaking about that... I hear you can order gauge clusters pre-set to your mileage at the dealer and they can certify it so you don't have to sell your car as having "unknown mileage".

Yeah, but you have to leave the car at the dealer while they await the new cluster, obviously so that the car doesn't move while the cluster is out. I know someone who had to deal with this last year. Personally, I'd just go witht he "I want an STi cluster" and screw the actual mileage bit.

I read that they check the mileage then pre-estimate the mileage that will occur during shipping... I guess you have to have a cool dealer to pull that off.

If it were still for sale, and JC wanted to spend an extra $2k and 20-30 hours doing wiring, then sure.

I know. I joke because I'm not selling. If I were, you'd get it, along with a large ration of shit over buying it instead of getting an STi.

I don't need an electronic diff. nanny holding my hand like Kevin does.

What I really wanted were the taller 5th and 6th gears, plus it goes along with my theme of "my car has this and yours doesn't". Well, it will once it does...

What's the theme right now? "My buddy's shop's corner has this and yours doesn't?"
