Default Speeding Tickets

A neighbor comes up to me today and asks what his options are regarding a speeding ticket; 45 in a 35.

I ask why he thinks I am an expert and he replies that with my car I MUST get loads of speeding tickets and would therefore know what to do, other than paying of course.

I have no idea how Nevada works with tickets as I have not been cited in this state. Can one go to traffic school? This is his first ticket in over 10 years he says.

Any help?

Franz

He can bend over and grab his ankles, and do himself a favor and have some lube on hand, because the system of "traffic enforcement" tax collection will screw him one way or the other.

Mind you that the judge may allow traffic school to remove the demerit points off his record, BUT the incident STAYS on your record unless the judge is kind enough to remove it (normally its if your under 18 years old when this happens, but you might get lucky). If the incident is kept on record, your insurance will still go up even though you have no demerit points.

Next, he can try and dispute it. Go to court the first day and plead not-guilty. If cop doesn't show, you get to go....bunch of junk.

Anyone remember that website that told how to attempt to get out of a ticket? www.ticketassasian.com or something.

I was telling someone else here that yes you can go to traffic school and get the points removed but it still is on you driving record and her insurance will go up regardless.

Here's some stuff from a mailing list I was reading today. Some may not apply, but you never know about 'some day':
- - - - -
As long as you did not admit it when he ask you "how fast were you going?"... just take it to court and tell the judge "I was going ##".
Maybe you will get off.

I was once told in traffic school that they ask these questions so that you
incriminate yourself, then there is no question your guilty.

I was going around 90 on an on-ramp and when ask I said 45... I received
no ticket.
- - -
Ask when his training was
Ask how many speed estimations he made during training
Ask what leeway his training tells him to allow
Argue that you could have been doing 5mph over his estimation..or even
5mph UNDER his estimation.
Contend that you know you were not going any faster than the posted limit
(of course you can only say this if youdidnt screw up and state a
differend speed earlier..the cop will have written down every word
you said) and that mistakes happen (never call a cop wrong) and its
possible that he could have been wrong.

This assumes he was standing still, visually pacing you. if he followed
you in a car, it becomes a 'he said, i said' argument with a dose of "A
train is going east at 80mph, you are going west at 15mph, but stop for a
dozen donuts..." argument
- - - - -
I try to save my traffic school sessions for the -big- tickets that need
em. On the small ones, go to court..argue reasonably..you get off sorta clean on MOST.

For this one..and other potential large ones, always go to court, you
might get the 50% "no show" and get off, or a "the officer is on
'vacation' is it OK to reschedule?" (always say yes, the office is trying
to make YOU a no show, and comissioners remember co-operative folk),
or..the cop will show, and if you debate reasonably..and leave room for
simple error on both sides..the comish may well lower the fine a lot and
offer school.

Jerry here taught me fight em all, and a few ways to use the system to its
designed limits. Ive been able to hold off BS tickets for 2 years before
they see a day in traffic court. By then..the officer could:

A) Give a rats ass
B) Has moved
C) Give a rats ass

Thanks! Franz show him that site. If he decides to fight it or try and get out of it, it has some good ideas.

Of course, I just always pay my tickets. If I am speeding and get caught, its like my little (expensive) reminder to slow down.
