Did you soak it overnight with some liquid wrench or similar?

How long is the breaker bar that you're trying to use?

...if you don't know what a breaker bar is, then that's your 1st problem.

Breaker bars are tough to get on exhaust parts...

Box end wrenches and a dead blow hammer should do the trick. Be prepared to run to lowes to get replacements as if they are really rusted/munged as exhaust bolts get, they will snap the bolt instead of losening it.

The last option are "nut breakers. They basically crack the nut in half by pressing a cold chisel into one og the flat sides. I have a set, or harbor freight has them for under $10 I think.

If it's the axle back he's taking off, a breaker bar should fit IIRC.

What Dean said. You can make your own cheap breaker bar if you get a piece of pipe to slip over your socket wrench handle. If that isn't enough, hit it with a Ford tool for some impact loading.

Thats what you think.

I think you just need some more elbo greese... It'll come. Oh, and can I recommend buying PB Blast at kragen or auto zone. That thing is = god. It's better than anything else on the market. Go pick some up... drench it, let it soak in, and then try again.

Actually my breaker bar gets stuff off that the impact can't touch. Perhaps I need a stronger impact, but it's rated at like 275ftlbs at 90psi... so I gotta figure the bar it over 300 when you really wang on it.

Not true...
My WRX Crank Pulley Nut > Impact wrench > breaker bar > wrench against frame, and kick the starter motor.

We only hope it is < Torch + impact at some point in the future.

Okay, I forgot about those. I went 0-2 trying to get those off when I was wrench monkey at Vishnu.

I used a long soaking of Liquid Wrench, and my 1.5' breaker bar on that bad boy and got it off all by myself!

Before it broke loose, I was pulling on the bar so hard, it was litterally deflecting about 10 inches. And when it broke loose, it sounded like a .22 caliber bullet being fired, and tossed me on to the floor of my garage!

I thought I had to have broken something in there, but when I took a look, the crank bolt was finger loose, and all I had to do was unscrew it by hand, and swap the pully!

I was thinking of using the weight of the car and a breaker bar..

Jack the car up but with the wheels still touching to keep the engine from turning, and then put in the breaker bar and blocks of wood to get it tight, and then just lower the jack.

By the way, is it a lefty loosy, righty tighty, or is it left hand thread?

It's just like any other bolt. Counter-clockwise to loosen it.
